Exclamation Bent rims or bad allignment?

So I went to discount tire and had a flat looked at, turns out the rear tire has started to break up on the inside tread. Now they took my rim and balanced it and said it was bent....they also took off my other rear tire and it had the same thread break up on the inside thread and said that rim was bent too.
I want to say it was the allignment since I did drop the car....but the rims had a little wobble on the balance machine and that concerns me...they were being a bit pushy to buy new rims...I want some opinions from u guys..the rims don't seem bent from looking at them... I really don't want to see my rs1 rims go.

If they're bent, You can always to a rim shop that fixes rims and gets them to straight.

was the rim wobbling or the tire? sometimes the tire will be wobbling and not the rim. u gotta look at it while its spinning on the balancing machine. if they used the wrong piece that holds the rim on the balancing machine that could cause your wheel to look like its bent while its spinning. i always use the piece with the fingers and not the cup because it balances the rims better. i couldn't get my old wheels my to balance out using the cup attachment and it looked bent but when i used the finger attachment it balanced out fine.

did u hit a pothole or curb recently? sounds to me like its the tires.

sounds like it was a bad alignment issue. inside wear is caused by bad camber and toe settings.

i'd get a second opinion from another shop.

Going To get another shop to look at it tomorrow.
I don't hit potholes or curbs with the rear wheels that's what doesn't make any sence to me. The front ones r way more prone to bending and cracking.
And it's both wheels!

inside wear that is consistent throughout the tire is an alignment wear.. if you see feather then you would think more of a bent rim issue or balance issue. doesn't matter if you use the fingers or the cup you still need the right cone to make the rim center on the balancer. you can tell the difference in a bent rim and a non centered wheel .. a bent rim will be a quick dip while a noncenter rim on the balancer will look like the whole rim is moving.

Ya my back rims bent due to yanking the e-brake. Tire place said I bent the back 2 rims. So I just bought new rims and I will not be pulling the e-brake anymore. It also helps to have higher quality rims than konigs.

I don't pull the ebrake my car does alot of sliding with out it I just accelerate and let off the gas completly and my car slides around wooh sway bars! Lol as for the balance maching they put it on with the tire and I guess it was the tire wobbling. I'll have them take the tire off N try again.

^ this..the guy doing the job just could have been stupid and used the wrong cone for the balancing machine...go to a different shop and get a second opinion..

That's key, definitely do that.

The scenario really sounds like they wanted to sell you some wheels, rather than just tires & alignment.

I would fix the rims first, and then if that doesn't cure it. Slap on a new set of rubber, but first thing I would do is take it to another shop just to get another look at the vehicle. Did you personally see the bent wheels?
