Default Brakes/Rotors

Wasn't sure where else to post this... but within the last few weeks my rear brakes have been squealing with a loud grinding noise (sounds like metal on metal) and its so bad I don't want to drive my car because I am afraid to brake! My rotors have a 1/2 inch wide "score" (which is rusting) near the bottom of the rotor where it converges to the wheel and I am assuming is from the brake scraping against it?

My questions are as follows:

1.) Is 37,700 miles on an 06 tC seem too soon for new brakes/ what could be the problem?

2.) Where should I go to get new brake pads and rotors? Online or in store?

THANKS!!

37,700 miles is not too soon.
It all depends on how hard you brake.
Most likely you need new pads all around and have your rotors switched.

geez i have gone 50,000 miles in a car and brakes were in great shape and it was an automatic which you cant slow the car down like you can with the engine in a manual. but if your rotors are scoured up you prolly need pads and maybe new rotors unless they can resurface them.

Cool thanks. Any recommendations on where to get pads and rotors? Should I just check a local auto accessory store or will it be worth wild to go online?

Doesn't really matter.
Either way will work.

look up Nurspec on scionlife. he'll give you a pretty good deal on the stoptech stage 2 kit which includes all four slotted rotors, axis brake pads, stainless steel braided lines, and brake fluid.

I'm not really looking for performance brakes or rotors as I will probably be selling my tC soon anyways =( I just want to get something decent that will get me through until I sell it within the next year.
