comes down to 2 choices (Dunlop vs Bridgestone)
Since I have summer tires already (BF Goodrich Gforce KDW2) I'd like to get dedicated winter tires. Running a search on Tirerack I've come down to 2 possible choices [eliminating those with "lower" ratings]. I've read people on SL having the blizzaks. If anyone has either one of these tires can you kindly chime in on yr honest opinion of them?
I'll be using these in light snow and ice. I just don't want to go through what i did last year, I think my knuckels turned permanently white from gripping the steering wheel with those stock tires.
Much appreciated,
C.

Hi:
I used Dunlop Wintersport M3's on my Mazda 3 last winter. They were outstanding.
I just bought a set of Wintersport 3D's for my wife's tC from Tire Rack. The 3D is the new upgraded version of the M3. I bought them in size 205/55-16 H rated, mounted on alloy wheels. I won't mount them on the tC until December.
I am very happy with the performance from the Wintersport M3's. I put 5,000 miles on them last winter in the northeast and they were very stable and predictable. I recall one snowy evening on the Merit Parkway in CT, driving home from NY where I saw at least 6 cars spun out on the side of the road in a 20 mile stretch. I was not slipping at all and was able to maintain 45mph safely on snow covered highway. That's why I just bought the Dunlops for my Scion.
The DunlopM3's and 3D's are a high performance winter tire and work well on snow, dry and wet pavement as well.
The Blizzak WS-50 is a different type of snow tire than the M3 and is more geared towards driving on snow. It depends what type of roads you will drive on. Where I am the roads are mostly plowed. The M3 is more like the Blizzak LM25. Read the reviews on Tire Rack and you'll see the difference.
