help me choose between 2 tires
hi, its time for me to get some new tires for my stock wheels and i can't decide which ones to go with. its between either the kumho estca asx or kumho solus kh16. this is my DD and i don't race it. i need something that is good wet and dry (which both of these seem to be according to tirerack). i'm wondering if its worth the extra for me to get the solus'. any input would be great, esp. from people who have had these.
thank you.
thank you.
nah, the ASX's are great, i had a set of them. they were fine, i even drove in the snow with them, cept i have LSD to help with traction. but i even competed with them in autocross without problems. great tires, great prices. but they only lasted me about...25k miles...but i drove hard and fast on them.
well, there treadwear is 400 or 420, which is about as much as you can get in a tire of this type searching through tire rack. but treadwear is factored by things how hard you brake, accelerate, turn, and drive. i drove two hours twice a week at speeds above 65 mph going to and from school, i autocross, and i love to feel the cars power moving away from a stop, and i have a tendency to stop at yellow lights. so i go through the tires faster than others.
my mom's 2005 subaru legacy has the same bridgestone protenza that my scion came with, and they lasted her over 50k miles, cuz...well, she drives like a woman in the latter have of her 50's.
so it doesn't matter what kind of tires so much as how you drive on them period.

my stock yokos lasted me 15k, could have squeezed another 2-3k miles but they were basically done
those had 160 threadwear, now im on nexen n3000 360 threadwear, and im just over 25k miles with them, and im pretty sure ill go another 10k with them before i have to get new tires, so definitely all depends on your driving habits!
