I NEED HELP!!! Scratched Rims advice please
The other day my stock rims were scratched really bad on a concrete sidewalk. I dont want to buy any new rims rite now so is there anything I can do to save them?
plenty.
Get some 400/600 grit sandpaper...
Get some bondo spot filler....
Get some paint thinner....
Get some matching paint.
Clean the hell out of your curb-rashed area with paint thinner. Do it several times. Make sure the area is clean clean clean clean clean.
Then do it a few more times to be 100% sure.
Mask out the rest of the wheel leaving only your curb-rashed portion visible. Apply the bondo spot putty in thin layers, keep layering it up until you're a bit higher than the factory would have been. Let each layer dry before applying a new one.
Start sanding. Get it so it's really smooth and looks like the rash is gone. After all that, paint away. I do 2 or 3 layers of paint and wet-sand each layer with like 1000 grit.
let each layer dry overnight. the result will be no more curb rash.
