Default My tires are CURSED@%!#@%

1.5 months ago - my front driver side tire gets a deep nail embedded in it. Thanks to the folks at Les Schwab, I'm fixed right up.

2-4 weeks ago - my rear driver side tire loses 10 PSI overnight. What??

Today - While I was finally airing up my rear driver side tire, I found huge trouble with my front passenger side tire. Take a look:

Holy freaking COW. Is this just superficial damage or do I have to buy a new set of tires?!

You need to watch those curbs man. It looks superficial to me from here, but over time it could spread more and cause you to leak air or even a blowout. I'd get a new tire on there asap.

I HONESTLY say, get that thing replaced ASAP. It may look superficial but if you curb checked it hard enough to even do that to it, then you may have quite possibly degraded the integrity of the side wall. To much heat from the road could lead it to a blow out. Toyo Proxy 4s are supposedly really good, no better time to get them

Oh, and if you see a curb...you don't have to curb check it to make sure its there, trust your eyes :D Just messin!

Yeah yeah yeah, I get it. Unlike everyone else here, I very rarely park next to a curb (like twice a year). I've can count the number of times I've paralled parked in my life on one hand. Usually I'm either in a driveway or in a nice parking space away from curbs. As such, I'm not a very good judge of distance when it comes to parking next to a curb (I'm either 6 inches away...or into the curb)

However, I do not recall curbing in the past few months. Can this type of damage only result from curbing?

Also, is it safe/recommended for me to get away with replacing that single tire, or is it best to get a full set?

best to get a full set.. because tire construction is different with every model of tire.

i'd second the recommendation for Toyo Proxes4 tires.. you'd be very happy with those. For some reason the stock tires are nail magnets.. it's weird.

Well, assuming I can find the same model, would that be okay? The tires currently have 11k miles on them.

Are those the stock tires? You can get 2 news tires for now and be ok. If you do need new tires, I would just buy 4 new ones. The stocks suck ****. Plus, the price of replacing 2 stock tires would probably end costing you as much as getting 3 BETTER and NEW tires!

But, if you want to fix your present tire just use super glue. I did this on a buddy's ride and he had no problems after glue-ing it. Heck, you could barely tell it was there!

Lastly; since you curbed your rim and jacked it up, BUY SOME NEW RIMS!!! j/k

Dude you clipped a curb bad. Look at the amount of metal taken out of that rim. My suggestion, get at least two tires, then go to a parking lot and get some cones so you can learn to judge distances better.

if you could find the same stock tire, the price for one stock tire would be double that for one Toyo Proxes4. Yeah it's sad, the stock tires aren't that good and they're more money than better aftermarket tires! amazing.

with 11k on those stock tires, I'd just say you should get a new set of tires. I know it'll be more $$$ but putting on two new stock tires isn't worth the waste of money.

May want to have your alignment checked depending on how fast you hit the curb.

yeah, that thing looks pretty uncool. But yeah like others said, it was caused by the curb. You might be able to get a used one of the same tire on craigslist or local tire shops. Otherwise, you would probably be better off just getting 4 new tires.

Driver cursed with depth perception issues lol.

Don't buy any aftermarket rims. When you feel that you hit the curb, stop, move forward, and try again.
