Default Need Tire Advice

I damaged one of my rear tire and need to change just one tire. This is the first time I am doing it and I was wondering whether I need to get the same tire or I can have a different tire with same threadcounts etc. My 05 tC came with Potenzas. I am thinking about getting Yokohama AVS ES100.

Any other suggestions? Scion owners in San Jose, CA, any recommendations for a place to buy?

Thanks!

Generally it's not a good idea to just change one. You will usually want to change 2. Either both front or both back. Unless the tread on the other tires is still nearly new. Then MAYBE you could get away with 1 of them.

you definately don't want to replace only one tire with an off brand than the other 3. it will ride funny and wear differently. also different tire brands are not alwasy the exact same size eventhough the are marked that way. this will also affect the handling, tire wear and ride quality.

i agree with ack154...... replace two at least. also some tire stores will give you a trade in on your used tires. That could help offset the cost of a second tire.
