Default new tire question

hi guys. i just bought some new tires for my tC last saturday, same size as oem 17's. when i pressurize the tires, i should pressurize em' to oem spec right? 32 psi front, 29 psi rear? i called the guys at toyota here in town and they said that they didn't know and that those settings are for the oem tires only. please let help me out before i blow my tires. thanks.

wow a toyota dealer who's clueless about tire pressure? I don't think I'd be using them for ANY services if they can't figure that out.

And the Doc is right, same size, same pressure, cold of course. Hot (after driving for 1-2miles) will be 3-4psi higher than cold.

been about 2.5 hours. i depressurized down to 32F, 29R. did some road testing and there was a major difference. before i depressurized them, the car felt unstable on the highway. after i depressurized them, the car gripped a lot better. yea... i'm starting to hate these guys here at the toyota here. thanks for the help guys.

a tire that's overinflated the center of the tire will be "crowned" where the sides of the tread doesn't even really touch the ground. So yeah it would be unstable, glad you got it fixed! :D
