Default Offset for a 9 inch wide tire?

Alright so I am trying to figgure out from a few of you who have run 9 inch wide wheels what kind of offset you're running. My plans were to run a 17x9 but I am going to need the offset that would work. I can roll the fenders if need be, I just need to find an offset that will work.

while we're on the topic of offset, whats's the stock offset for the standard alloys? \

Thanks in advace for the input,

Comp.

lol

to be honest I don't really care how it looks, I just need to know the stock offset and then an offset that will work with a 17x9. I can roll the fenders if need be (I imagine I will be doing that anyways). I just got a little Idea in my head that I want to try out, but I can't be too specific about it just yet...

**runs off to do some searching with SL GREAT serach box...**

ok so I found the Stock offset

" The stock 17 inch wheels use a 45 mm offset and a 5 x 100 mm bolt pattern, with 215/45/ZR17 "

now I did some looking and to have the SAME ammount of back space the stock wheels use (which is like 157mm), I'd be looking at an offset around 19... but that puts (on a 17x9) the extra 2 inches in the front sticking the wheel further out...

in order to get the same stance as the stock tire youll need a 70.4 offset lol since thats not going to be possible i recommend a low 40 if you can for the rear. for the front i recomend a high 40, like a 48 or so. that will sit you slightly tucked so you can drop it, if you want it sticking out you'll need a 30ish

not sure what the wheels are offered in but hopefully this gives you a decent idea

If you are in it for the performance you will want to run a 255 wide tire. With that width I would try to stay between 40 and 44 for the offset. I am currently running 17X8.5 +37 with a 255/40-17 and I have no rubbing issues.

What wheels are you looking at getting or are you going custom?

ok, that makes sense. yes, I am having a kind of custom wheel made and I just want to spec up the size that would be needed.
