Pros/Cons 215 vs 225 tire width?

Getting two new tires for my front. Running aftermarket Konigs still 17x7 though. Kuhmo Ecsta AST is Target tire. 225 will make bigger foot print for grip but will it be sloppier? Can I increase psi to make up for the extra rubber?
Or will it just feel sloppier no matter what but still grab better? Will still run 45 series sidewall or should I get 40 series to even out the extra thickness? I know 225 is width but it still causes slight change in overall wheel/tire diameter.

you are really not changing much. You might get a a bit more road noise and hum from the tires, but the changes are still minimal. I run 225/40 in the summer and i can definitely hear the changes, but its NOT much different driving wise.

You said the changes are minimal but its much different driving wise. I'm either confused or you just contradicted yourself. Different how? Good or bad or both?

you wont notice a difference,.... at all go with the 215s cus they are probably cheaper

I run 225/45/17 Direzza Star Specs on the stock 17x7 (they run wider than the stated size also, they are wider than my 225 width Ecsta SPTs) for autocrossing and it doesn't feel sloppy at all. Tires are only slightly taller overall. My vote is for 225s, unless you wanna save money, then the 215s are a better choice. Even 10mm will help a decent bit with overall grip.

You might find that the 225 tires feel sloppier no matter what, but they should still provide better grip. You could try increasing the psi to compensate for the extra rubber, but it's possible that this will just make the ride less comfortable without improving performance. Alternatively, you could switch to a 40 series sidewall to even out the thickness. Keep in mind that the 225 is a width measurement, so it won't necessarily change the overall diameter of the wheel/tire.
