I've been through like 5 sets of "cheap" or "knockoff" wheels, and i've taken them to the drag strip, aggressive mountain roads, etc. They have never broken.

90% of tC owners won't put the high end wheels to the test what so ever, they are overkill.

It's like putting a tin man suite on to go paintballing. Overkill. Or, dressing up like a girl for Halloween and wearing girl underwear to go with it.

No need for expensive, high end wheels to roll around town with. Now, if you have a tc like ptuning and your just stressing your wheels on a weekly basis you might want to look into something track proven

stock wheels are made the same way as the knockoffs

I just would never spend 2 grand on wheels. They're primarily looks for me on my daily driver tC. I guess I just don't need anything with extreme quality. I like those Enkei's too, but even $289 is a little steep. I'd like to spend $800-$1000 for the set. I guess I'm not going to satisfy anybody's opinions lol but I did get my questions answered.

and getting custom raze's is going to cost more than you think

having rims refinished costs about 100 bucks a wheel.

I know the Hyper Silver finish of the 10 spoke r51's will look fine, I just was wanting something a little different than a silver finish...something darker or even Gold.

I don't care for those much, I like a least a little bit of a lip to my wheels.

There was actually a good write up in May's SportsCar magazine about wheels. I felt a bit more educated after reading it...

Don't know. I don't get Modified. This is SportsCar... the official SCCA magazine. It wasn't incredibly in depth but explained some of the different manufacturing processes along with fit/finish basics.

Hm... can probably scan it at work. Or try to take a picture. Let me see if a photo would come out OK.

Hmm... this might be easiest... 4 pages, from pictures, into a PDF:

Look for a set of used wheels that comes with good tires and a lot of thread left. I picked up my 18' BBS RC wrapped in Kumho ASX with 90% even thread (off a wrx), no curb rash or anything, and with center covers for only $700.

Just give it time and look around forums, You should be amazed to what you can find.

I did start out with rotas though, D2's infact, just made me want the SSR Professors SP1 more

Honestly I've found that the more I learned about higher end wheels the more I look at cheaper wheels and notice how..well...cheap they look lol. The overall shape of the wheel just looks really flat and the face of the wheel looks round (like the spokes have this weird shape to them..I think that makes sense..)

To the OP - just take a look at some higher end wheels and then compare them to the knockoffs and you (may or may not) see what I mean..personally after what I've learned on here I don't think I could rock lower quality wheels not necessarily cause I'm afraid they will break (because I doubt they will given my driving habits..but you never know) but because they just look cheap and shoddy to me.
