For those with S-techs
Has anyone put a camber kit on? I looked at my tires yesterday and I am just using the inner part of the tire and they are severely worn because less tire on being used.
yeah. you dont need a camber kit. The tC has adjustable rear camber. I have S Techs and didnt buy a camber kit. you do however need some now camber bolts for your front struts. i got mine at the dealer for like 10 bucks.
I have s-techs and the camber kit.
I took my car in to David Maus Toyota whom uses a state of the art machine to do an alignment.... there just isn't enough on the stock setup to eliminate camber. I had proof of this when I took my wheels off and compared them side by side... I was still in the red. My 18's looked much worse than my stock 17's.
I bought the SPC camber kit. I have never installed a camber kit before.... but it was easy as hell. After the installation I got it aligned and had it dialed in perfectly. It took me maybe 1.5 hours to install on my own being careful because it was my first time (I recommend an impact wrench to help with the fronts to make it easier).
Comparing the rear camber arms (Stock vs. SPC) you could see that the SPC camber arm was nearly 2 inches longer. The front's are very cheap because they are just 2 bolts to replace... the rears are more expensive.... but look at it this way.... you will save money by not replace your tires all the time.
PS. Redline... if you ever buy a camber kit, I'll install the fronts for $20

I have the Hotchkis springs which put a severe 2 degree negative camber on my rear wheels (that was after alignment) which I blew one of the factory tires on the highway. I got the SPC front and rear camber kit on ebay from Import Auto Performance. You can search ebay for 67485 and 81290 which is the rear camber arms and front camber bolts. I'll post before and after pics of pre and post alignment with the camber kit.
Also, this should of been posted in the suspension & handling forum.

I'd only recommend it if you want your drop to be done the right way. Going through tires because of camber wear is a good waste of money...especially when risking a blowout since the tread wears most on the inner part of the tire and may be harder to see. So, if you really think about it.... it's less expensive to do a camber kit and save on buying new tires over a period of time. Plus.... the camber kit can be installed in your garage.... might need an impact wrench to loosen the bolts.... but I did it myself just by following the directions.
took me 2 hours to install because it was my first time.... the front took like 10 minutes total.... I spent more time taking off the wheel than i did swapping the front.... If I were to do them again.... I'd say it would only take me 1 hour to do on my own.
Well worth it...especially when people look at your car and can tell that you don't have camber wear
