tire for oem rims

so i have a 2007 tc spec package and i heard that its possible to run 225/45ZR17 instead of 215/45ZR17 but i wanted to double check before i ordered tires. so is it possible to run the wider tires on the oem rims? is there a downside/upside to having the wider tires?

I thought the spec had 16" wheels?

according to the tire size of my current tires it says it's a 17
