Default Tires

So its time for new tires and now winter is approaching. Im kind of low on funds so im thinking of just doing all season tires instead of winter tires for the main reason that when spring rolls around i wont know my finance situation so i dont know if i will be able to buy summer tires. anyone have some suggestions on all season tires on stock 17inch rim?

kumho ecsta asx. $81 dollars each at tire rack. cheap, but damn good for the money. high treadwear too. mine are reporting for their second season in the white stuff.

just keep in mind, no tire you put on your car will make it drive well in the snow. your still should wait for the plows to do their job.

anything else in that price range that might be a little better in the snow? sometimes plows around here don't do their job until they are ready if you know what i mean

trust me, your not going to be going anywhere in a tc in the snow.

i tried to drive my tc when it was really stock in the snow, with the original crappy protenzas and stock suspension. it was hard, the rear end kept wandering around fishtailing, went back to the house and took my mom's subaru instead. car drove fine, same tires, but with awd, was much easier to handle.

the tc is not an off-road, ice and snow going car, and no tires are really going to change that much. even if you put some meaty tires on, you have low ground clearance and low clearance in the wheel wells. they'll fill up and makin steering very unresponsive. and the brakes will do very little as well.

i dont have a suggestion on all-seasons since i live in sunny cali...

however, based on my experience, do not get falkens fk452, they do not grip if you drive the car hard, or track it at all..

my next tire will be a Toyo Proxxes 4, or possible the Falken RT-615 if they come out in my size.

another tire i may recommend is the BFG KDW, those are also up there in my book, and they are relatively cheap.. all three of the tires are less than $150 for my size, 245/40

yea but none of those will handle the snow. those are all for sunny cali.

i would recomend (believe it or not) the Neogens, they shed off water pretty good and my guess would be they would be ok in the snow. unfortunatly for you i havent experianced it but when they where new they rocked, and for 97 a peice for 225/45s they are a great price (cheaper if you wanted 205s or 215s)
