Default What's the widest tire you can fit on the tC?

Ok so the other day I had 2 mess ups with my tires (225/40/18 ) and I am looking to get wider so I went to the used tire shop to get a new one and noticed they had to pretty good (245/40/18 )
so I picked them up and put on the rear, and I am still running with 225/40/18 in the front. Long story short what is the widest tire I can fit on the front? Is it 245 just like back or no?

please help

It depends. How wide are your rims, what offset, are you lowered, etc.

you do not want to run 245/40/18, you would want 245/35

however, the widest tire you can fit on a tC would be a 245 w/o any modifications, i am currently running those, and i honestly dont see how you could fit any more tire under there without rubbing or chance of splicing a tire.

i plan to run a 255 or 265 eventually all around, and that will require minimal work in the rear, however in the front is a different story.

The skinny on the widest 18" tire for your TC:

For 18x7.5 rims the widest recommended tire is a 235.40.18 for your TC.
For 18x8 rims the widest recommended tire is a 245.35.18 for your TC.

For 18x8.5 rims a 255 could be used but will need fender modifications.

FYI: You might be able to fit a larger tire on your rims but rim and tire manufactures do not recommend it and in doing so, most manufactures will not grant warranty claims under those circumstances. Doing this also makes it more difficult to maintain proper tire ware which will reduce your tires life.

ok I think they are 18 by 7.5, and they are only on my back tires rite now I have no drop on my car yet but I was planning on getting one soon. Will I have problems?

yes, you will definatley have problems.

on an 18x7.5 wheel, you want to run a 225 max, you run a chance of slipping a tire if you go any larger.

i musta missed the part where you mentioned your wheels, i thought you were asking in general.

I have 18X8 with 42mm offset and I fit 245/40R18 tires. I went with taller tire since the gearing is so short and I have NO traction anyway (360 WHP) despite the Quaife LSD. It does rub a tad in front though and the slicks rub as well when I am decelerating from a run at the track. Back is absolutely fine with plenty of room. I really want to fit 255 or 265 tires as well but without someone making some slightly wider fenders not sure it will happen.
