Safely, 225s.
After that, you change the profile of the tire which is unsafe.
My Kuhmos arrive tomorrow (225/40/18s) so I'll let you know how I like those next week sometime.

i was told i could fit 245/40s but they didnt make the tires i wanted in that low of a profile, so im running 225/45s, just go to a tire place, and they should be able to help you out.

NO! That would be very unsafe. not to mention, they'd wear like *hit.

225s are safe. 235s are doable, but not safe. 245s are NOT safe! I am running 225s comfortably and it feels good!

thanks guys... i just hope i wont rub with 225s.. cause i am slammed and drive in Jersey with huge potholes... what if i do 225s in the back and 215s in the front? will that mess up the handling?

I wouldn't recommend doing that. If for no other reason, you are probably going to run directional tires (as those are the more performance oridented tires). You can't rotate tires left and right, so you have to swap the fronts and rears. If you have 215s up front and 225s in the rear, then you can't ever rotate your tires without unmounting. Thats just one reason.

Another is that the different sizes may throw off your traction capabilities as they will be uneven. Sorta like having 2 front tires that are different from the 2 rears. In this case, the rears will have more surface area on the ground, the front less. Therefore more traction in the rear. Well, just some things to think about. I don't recommend it.

It's not the diameter that matters, it's the rim width.
I've got 225s on 18x8s, larger than OEM and perfect for the rim.

Because it's true.
Lots of people do stupid *hit, does that mean you follow their lead?
I have seen charts for tires up to 255 being used on a 7" rim, but my experience on motorcycles - which admittedly are very different - is not not go over the original size by more than one size.

In the end, it's up to you - but people need to know that premature wear and handling are affected by doing this.

Yea. Kungpao, I say that because it is truly NOT safe. i didn't say that its not doable. You can of course mount them on the rims, but there is a LOT of strain on the sidewalls of the tires and as I said, is just simply NOT SAFE. Just becuase people do it doesn't make it safe. Lots of people do stupid things.....Bush was elected president. The terminator is the governor of california. Get my point......

Lol, my bad. I just realized it's for OEM wheels. Yea that's totally right. I thought this was about the widest tire in general. With stock offset, I think 245 is the widest you can go. But definitely on a 7" wide wheel it's 225. My mistake! Sorry guys.

nicely said guys.. i'll probably go with 215s then with pirelli pzeros... since they wont be that expendsive due to the narrow width..
