So apparently my work is going to start selling 75W HID kits. I Install 35W and 55W kits every day, but I didn't even know that there was such thing as a 75W HID Kit! I wonder how blinding it's gonna be

But anyways, we're getting a box in and they want to use my car to market the new kits, so when I get my free kit i'll post picture and let yall know how it goes!

My only concern is will the extremely high amount of wattage drown out all of the color? We'll find out I guess!

75w a no go in the housing, run it for a period of time and watch the painting on your reflector bowl slowly burn and chip.

and yes, 75w will wash out the color, so you would need to step up to 6000K to get near 4500k ... when a 5000K @ 35w will just be sufficient with the amount LUMENs you get.

 

75w is way to much heat.

75W is probably just a boosted 50W, our Koito reflector bowls will handle it for a short while, then a haze will form inside, then the aluminum will burn away.
Not recommended, a true 35W ballast w/4300K bulbs will give you the most lumens on the road....

 

Yep, 35 watt ballasts is what I recommend. Brightness in the context of our cars can start to work against us. I think 50/55 watts is probably at, or maybe beyond the limit of usable light, with our stock projectors. That brightness works against our pupils and just hurts other drivers on the occasion when they fall within our projector's beam pattern. So yeah, 75 watts? ;) Hope it's cold where you're driving, and that you're not stationary for very long (keep the air moving over your projector housing to help it keep cool). It probably won't help you see any better overall either. Pockets within the beam pattern will be better lit, but overall you're just past the point where your pupils will cooperate.

But you won't notice this happening . . . it's all very deceptive to our eyes & mind.

 

even if cold or if he's moving, the bulbs are sealed in the headlight, so no venting. lol except for the small vent to reduce moisture / condensation. maybe melt that rubber seal too!

 

35 watt is always to best way to go! it will save you a lot of trouble later on!!

but i never knew why?

i know the subtle differences between the 35W and the 55W, but didnt know why one was better than the other. please elaborate so i can increase my knowledge.

 

More light doesn't help at all, your eyes will adjust to the brightness in front of the car and your distance vision will be reduced, that's why a even spread of lower light is best. In this case more light isn't necessarily better. Checkout HID Planet for more info.
