I was washing my car yesterday (first time since I bought it) and I clean the rear bumper, rinse it off and move on to the next part of the car. I went back and noticed these scrapes that Ive never seen before that a sponge would definitely not cause. They were cleverly hidden with whatever he used and whatever it was I washed away.

What do you think he used on it to get it to be so hidden. All these scratches and scrapes just appeared after I washed it down.

OR how can I get these out?

also how bad are the scratches? did they just go through the clear coat or did the paint come off too? any chance of a photo showing the scratches?

if they are fine, it can just be the dirt on the car being rubbed into the finish by the washing process.

 

Sorry the "he" was the person who sold me the car like 2 months ago. The car was almost completely without scratches and the minute I wash it for the first time, scrapes and scuffs (not light scratches) started appearing out of nowhere. Its not something that a sponge could possibly do. Atm i dont have any pictures I will try to get some today. Its enough that I can feel it when rubbing my finger nail across it.

Im very particular about my cars and thats something I would have noticed when I first bought the car/before I put a sponge to it.

 

Once I see a pic I can tell you what to do. What colour is your tc?

Its magnetic gray metallic. I'll have pictures when I get home from work tonight

 

 

I can tell you the best way but it isn't easy. It requires the scratches to be "filled" by touch up paint, then giving the spot a cut and polish.

When I head to the dealer next week ill pick up some touchup paint and figure out a way to do it. As of right now, this was my quick fix...

Yea that was an easy way to cover those up lol. Its hard to tell from the picture, but the bumper was painted terribly after it got rear ended (not under my ownership). Theres a whole bunch of lines like they used a brush to paint it and not a gun lol (again those just appeared after I washed it).

Whatever the previous owner used on it was a miracle product I swear.

Theres other areas that need touching up too like the rock chips on the hood and front bumper are pretty bad too. And scrapes on the front bumper from it bottoming out on the previous owners steep driveway.
