swirls. dealership or just me?
my first 2011 black tc has swirl marks all over it at night.. bothered me so i called the dealership and he told me there's nothing i can do about swirls, it's just black and that's what happens. i don't know much about cars but i'm pretty ____ing sure my car's not supposed to look like this.. the dealer and i got into an argument over the phone but agreed to look at my car again. what should i do?
I've seen brand new GTRs and M3s with swirl marks. Dealerships just do basic washes (some even put them through automated machines) so swirls are going to appear. They can be corrected, but I don't think it's worth the time or money especially on a sub $20k car. And it's not a one time solution it requires upkeep.
thats why super white > all!
jk jk swirls suck i had them on my black car before my tc. not much u can do about it. all cars have them its just more noticeable on your glossy black tc

yep its a _____. I have the black rs5.0 tc and it has swirls. black paint sucks for that. Toyota paint sucks even more.
Like the previous poster said its a pain in the ___ to keep them out.
I use a black wax from turtle wax called black box its just for black cars the wax comes with a black pigment in the color so it fills in scratches and swirls real good. Its only a temp I cant see it fix but they are still there kinda thing. it does suck and I feel for ya.

Spend a few hundred to get a full detail on your car that will buff out all the scratches, and read up on autogeek.net to find out the best way to maintain that finish. There's lots of little tips and tricks to keep your finish clean.
Good car care products and a nice buffer ought to do the trick. As a rule people that don't notice swirl marks aren't very particular about the details. You could make the dealership detail the car but you'll probably end up with the same results. If it bugs you, you're probably going to have to buff them out yourself, or find a pro, which will be expensive.

Polishing (properly) takes a lot of talent and skill and you can do more harm to your paint then you think.
Honestly, grab yourself a claybar, learn how to use that, and wash and clay the car. After that, give it a wax. That will hide most of the swirls you see.
Welcome to the joys of black...
When I first got my car I gave it a nice bath, followed by a nice dry sand with 320 grit and then a real thin coat of honey mustard sauce (wendy's works best).
After all that my car looks fantastic now!
