Can you hit 60 in 2nd gear?
I think I got close in my automatic -- sadly, I had to give up on the experiment because there was a slow car ahead of me building up speed (very slowly) on the on-ramp. I don't recall my speed, as I was more fixed on engine RPMs and not hitting the car immediately in front of me.
Anyway I had my father with me and he was curious to see would happen, if the computer/tranny would override my commands & whatnot. I seem to recall one of my acquaintances (who loves to condescendingly show-off his manual whenever I give him the chance, so I don't anymore ;) telling me that in sequential shift mode, the transmission would limit me to 3500-4000k RPM or somesuch. Told my dad this and he was like, well let's find out -- I think he has more of a competitive streak than I do.
So I sequentially shifted from 1st, then 2nd -- when I was up to 5800rpm I was obliged to avoid hitting the vehicle right in front of me, so I had to give up the experiment. I don't drive this thing to show off how much I'm compensating or anything so I haven't bothered to repeat the experiment, though I suspect I could have easily pierced 60mph and 6000 rpm in 2nd. The automatic has taller gears, however, so it'll naturally pull lower rpm's for a given speed.
My anecdote is probably not helpful to you . . . but I mention it in case it's helpful to another.
Good luck!

in the owners manual it says 57 i think! but u can hit 60..ive did it before..imma record about in an hour or two when i go pick my sis up from school. i was ____ed off one day that i cudnt get to 60 but i def got there but u have to do it racing, and you have to have perfect shift at 6300 rpm
Yeah -- don't take the owner's manual as an iron-clad guide for what the car can actually do. It's more of a recommended best practices guide -- the truth of what's possible sometimes diverges from what's printed.
cuz remember in the tc2 redline is actually 6300 but the rev cut off is at 6500...so im sure in the manual they only give top speed up to 6000rpm since thats where the powerband for hp is at 180@6000rpm
Just don't expect any miracle numbers, read the other posts of stock dyno's and you'll see what the stock tC2 puts out... depending on the type of dyno, and the time of year, etc
im going in two weeks to dyno mine..i have headers/intake/axleback/short shifter/throttle controller/ i took my tc2 to the max and its tops out around 151 before rev cutoff pretty good for an economy car
87 octane? or ...? Curious to see what improvements you get, and keep a note of the air temp/humidity vs the stock run. My run with just the K&N was stupid warm and humid @ 158.1 hp / 147.1 tq.
on a dynojet which is what ill be using, mdiluxe put down 168hp and 152tq and that was stock. So im hoping i put down about the numbers toyota advertised. 180hp with 173tq i think the hp can be achieved but to just from 152 to 173 might be tough..im estimate will be 180hp and 161-162tq
93 octane..i've put 87 once in my car its use to 93..this car a high compression ratio so i always thought high compression ratio engines should use premium i know thats not true but its $2-3 extra not a big deal to me
