Default Does anyone have Battery Drain issue on 2012 tC2?

Hi everyone,

I have a tC2 since 2012 and I replaced the battery for the first time in 2014. Since that time, I think that I replaced the battery maybe 4-5 times. I'm in Canada and Winter is very hard for a car! My battery is freezing after 2 days or more if I'm not using the car.
Each year, I'm traveling 7 days and each time when I come back, the voltage is very low, the car won't start. The alternator has been tested good. It can do the same issue even if the battery is brand new. I have a remote starter since 2014-2015.

Is it possible that it can be the issue even if I'm not using it?

Thanks for your help!!

Do you have any other aftermarket accessories like an inverter or something that might be connected to a 12v constant?

Don’t be confused, you have replaced it for the 1st time in ‘14, and have had it since ‘12...So 2yrs needed another battery and a remote start was added in ‘14..and since ‘14 you’ve put in 4-5 batteries!!! Freezing cold on a discharged battery will kill it sure. There is water in the battery not sulfur. You have a draw happening and since it started to happen after the remote start??? Hmmmm

I installed a back up camera and satellite radio but the issue was still there before. The strange thing is that I sent my car to a local repair shop and they did a drain test. Everything was tested good. I think that I will log the voltage by hours. I think that the voltage begin to drop only after few hours.. I know that I can hear a sound coming from the back of the car after maybe 5 hours.. I don't know where to check. Does a car starter inactive can really consume battery ?

Maybe you're right but it's really hard to be sure. I'm trying to avoid removing the remote starter. I don't know if I can just disable it to test.. I put an AGM battery from Costco. I don't know if it's better than the original (Panasonic if I remember)

you need to do an actual battery draw test.. anything over 0.05 amps is gonna drain on a battery and especially in the cold you reside in. If you don’t know how to do this.. there are several YT vidz. I can tell you to pull off the negative cable and switch your DVOM to amps and put it in series to the battery negative cable thru the meter and see the reading. Then pull fuses from your “added items” and other OE terminals

camera staying on and you hearing a noise should be a indicator of what’s happening

I am sure you will find what is making the battery lose cranking power. Know this.. you can be fully charged and have less than required CCA’s to make a vehicle start..a draw will do this..you think the battery is ok showing 12.6v but load test it and see is a different thing. It drops below 9.6v.!!! Trash it. Get another, but find what’s happening to draw/drain it besides cold weather. Like I said a fully discharged battery has water in it and will freeze.

This is normal per the owners manual. It's something to do with the fuel pump.

If you live in the cold tundra of Canada, you might want to look into getting a battery designed to cope with that type of climate, like a Northstar.
