Lost original keys so I had to haul my 2012 tC to a local Toyota dealership to get new key. It is master key with locks and alarm at top of key fob.
Dealership said key was programmed successfully and after a fat 282 bucks later I now have a car that tries to crank over but will not start.
It has started up using starting fluid. Battery, alternator and fuel has all been checked. Brand new key. Already programmed by dealership.
All locks work on key and cranks the car but nothing else.

Wondering if it's coming back to this new key. Has anyone else ever ran into this?

How long since you drove away from the dealer? Did you run a scan to see if it's throwing any codes?

 

It never drove away from dealer. I bought the car 2 years ago and never had an issue until this new key. I hauled it to the dealer to get the new key and hauled it home because it still wouldnt start and dealer pretty much said it wasnt on them.

 

I see. Considering it started with starting fluid, it sounds like the dealership at least programmed the key correctly.

I'd run a scan and see if you have any codes.
