Default K&N released intake for us!!

Well I for one am a huge fan of K&n products. I emailed them about once every two weeks asking them if they are going to release an intake for our cars, and I kept getting the response of "We have no plans to". Well I just checked their website and here it is:

http://www.knfilters.com/search/prod...Prod=69-8616TS

I will be buying this FOR SURE!!!

Well on their website it says $300 something. But I bet when it gets to retailers it will be cheaper. Well I hope at least!

Yes, they use the same dry filter, but AEM is a cold air intake, and K&N is a short ram intake with a heat shield.

The K&N intake in question does NOT use a dry filter. It uses an oiled cotton gauze filter like every other K&N product, and filters significantly less effectively than a paper filter. I wouldn't go anywhere near one of these.

I did my own and it was real noticable. I cant see this intake any much better than the stock drop in. Where does it get the outside air from? I had to plumb mine to the plastic in front of the ds wheel that leads to real outside air. As long as i stay away from puddles of water and sand dunes, i should be ok.

I have been making home made intake systems for twenty years. Trust me, they made this system cheep and easy so it would sell well. For them to make one like mine would of been impractical and expensive. Even if the air was slowly leaking thru the head light lenses, being stopped by the inside shield, to collect air, i dont see this working well. You need to plumb down, to make this effective.

Will you post your custom intake for the TC2? And the only reason I like the K&n is because I dont want a cold air intake and have to worry about water and all that. Plus I've read that when you take an intake heat shield, and wrap that and the intake itself in heat reflective material, it works wonders.

you said it yourself, cold air intake. The sheild protects and helps collect air as well. I just dont see where you get the cold air at from the outside in this set up. K and n is in the business for making money. Not making a drastic set up for a car that just came out and not selling like water in the desert. Your only getting less hotter air with this set up, bc their is no openings. Sorry, just use your imagination. Not here to post pics of my water sucking gravel dirt intake. Abs piping and abs glue works well, find it at home cheepo. Make your brackets and get your silicon connections. 3 inch 90 degree bend to two inch piping. U have to cut the bottom plastic. I check my filter once a month. Just some pebbles bf the drop in which stays just as cold in its stock housing. Make the 90 degree bend just a tad under the front lip so it dosent scrape. Smalled holed mesh on the 90 is ideal.
