new here. auto trans for manual trade in estimate?
new to the forum but I've looked around and understand that trading in an auto trans scion tc 2nd gen for a manual one is a better option than doing a trans swap.
I am wondering how bringing in my current automatic trans tc2 all completely stock with no mods to trade in for its manual counterpart will affect my monthly financing. Will the decreased value of my current car from owning it for a a couple months lead to me having to pay more for a manual since my current tc will be worth less than a new car?
I'm new here and searched around for this topic but couldn't find much but saying that trading it in will be better than having a trans swap done. My bad if this has been covered already though.

Go to the dealer and ask. You're going to lose money there's no way around that. If you owe more on your car than it's worth, then that is going to roll over to the price of the new car.
It's actually not cheaper to trade.
Since I've done a 5 speed swap myself, I would actually know.
I spent around $1200-1500 for a full 5 speed swap, unless the dealer will trade with only a $1200 difference in price.
Check with local junkyards, I got my 5speed and lsd for around $500. You just have to put in some serious time to find everything, otherwise, be prepared to bend over for the dealership.

I was looking into doing this when I was thinking about going the turbo route. You're definitely gonna lose money, but it's the safest option. There are so many variables with a tranny swap, it's too risky if you ask me.
