I guess theres been big debate on if it increases performance opposed to just noise. Not rly sure you'd think with that removed and not suckin in cooler air away then how could it benefit but once again im not a pro or anything so I dont know the ins and outs of it. BUT it did make a diff in noise at full throttle, sounded like that deep whoosh echoing throughout at higher rpms

On the tC1 there was a resonator for noise. That could just be popped of and plugged with a PVC Fitting. No performance, it was just to keep the motor and intake quiet.

On the tC2 the motor is so darn noisy (like a VW Diesel) that I dont think they need a intake resonator. SO the snorkel on the tC2 box is actually sucking in air from the fender which is a benefit in my opinion. Even tho the snorkel is narrow, it was getting cooler air than right from the engine bay. I would (and did) invest in a Cold air Intake. Some people prefer Short Ram Intakes. Or just a K&N Filter. CAI's make the motor sound pretty mean in high revs.

Yea i been meaning to pick up a cai for mine as soon as i get some extra $$$. That and even though we in phx I was suggested one of those "hydro covers" correct me if im wrong? It goes over the filter to prevent water from being sucked in

I had one over my K&N on my tC1. It goes over the filter. Its like a mesh material, I really cant explain it. It allows 99.9% airflow, but if you throw water on it, it just runs off. If your filter however gets submerged in a 1 foot flood, then it will do you no good. Its only good for some rain drops. Also it will block small rocks and extra dirt from clogging the weaves of your filter. When I cleaned my hydro-cover Black dirt just runs right off it. And my K&N filter stayed clean longer.
Like I said, it keeps the "occasional" rain shower from soaking your filter.

I been to Arizona once. You also get that nasty dry dust. This shield can really keep your intake filter cleaner.

We totally Hi-Jacked this dudes thread, but I think we answered all questions and we both learned something. We'll see what the Original Poster has to say next lol.

On my tC1 I have the TRD axle back with Megan mid and it sounds awesome. Deep sound, no rasp besides a little bit when engine is cold on a higher rev. Not sure of there is a Megan mid for the tC2 but sure something similar. Could use a diff axleback too. Don't do a straight pipe, not a racecar. You'll get much better sound out of an actual exhaust

I removed the rear resonator, and got a 2" 2 bolt flange and welded up an axleback so it it exits at the factory spot. The car has a deep tone to it, no drone, no rasp, I believe it should have came like this from factory.

I basically made my own axle back. Went down to my local exhaust shop and get a standard 2 bolt, 2" flange. Then I used two 90' elbows, a straight section, and another 90' elbow for the exit. I replicated how the stock one fits but without the resonator. This allows me to swap in the stock axle back in about 5 minutes if need be.

I'll get a pic for ya. I didn't clamp the exhaust together, it is all welded. Only issue you will run into is the stock tie down bracket on the passenger side, you will need to make a 45' angle on one of the 90' elbows that goes to the flange otherwise it is in the way. I am still tweaking my hangers because the stock exhaust and even the aftermarket ones have a step up right before the resonator which allows for the hanger to sit lower but suck the exhaust up higher under the car. I couldn't replicate that so I am trying to find a short hanger as it only needs to go up an inch.
