Default Strangle Idle..

I see a lot of people whose tC's idle low, but they all claim that it remains at low idle. My idle usually idles normally at 750rpm, but sometimes it drops down to about 550rpm for 3-10 seconds before jumping back up to 750rpm for about 150-20 seconds, and repeating. The weird part is that it runs quietly and smoothly at 550, and creates the standard amount of vibration and noise for a 4 cylinder when idling at 750. Also, when the A/C is turned off it spends more time at 550rpm. Any thoughts what is going on? My air filters are recently replaced, my oil is new and full, coolant levels are good, and had a mechanic inspect it a few months ago and say everything was fine.

Thoughts?

Does pretty much the same thing on mine, except mine it seems to almost stutter at the lower RPM but catches itself and ramps itself back up. It'll bounce back and forth while the A/C is on when the fans kick on (which is all the time in Phoenix). Seems to be the nature of the vehicle.

Mine is extremely smooth at the normal 750 RPM though (but I did put on the Agency Power LWCP which smoothed out idle tremendously from stock).

My '14 idle rpm also does that- especially when its cold out or I've recently reset the CPU (disconnected the battery). I have the problem less when its warmer and the CPU hasnt been reset recently. I dont have any scientific proof, but i think the CPU is just slow at adjusting rpm, and air-fuel ratio in an effort to increase mpg. I get the feeling the feeling the CPU is looking to use the least fuel possible, and sometimes when its sees cold dense air, it THINKS it adjusts fuel accordingly and then over corrects.

Durty Azz MAF will cause ya problems certainly with a “cold air intake”..I have had my idle speed creep up to 1500ish and then drop out to 700, and back again, a few times and it settles. Cleaned the sensor and turned it a tad off center to set off a CEL for lean condition, then reset and set back straight on the tube and allz seems good.

Fixed my goofy idle. Throttle Body and MAF cleaned. Looked nasty.

Nasty as all hell. Fixed the issue
