Synthetic motor oil...
Is the factory oil that Scion uses called Nippon Eneos 0w-20?
And oil changes are every 10K?? For some that can be once a year? Any thoughts on what you guys would do? I mean yeah it's synthetic oil, but every 10K???

Yes on the factory oil.
I am thinking the same thing myself. Someone knolagable on here, told me in a PM that 10k is like the norm over seas, US is the only place that does 3k or 5k oil changes. But 12 years of owning cars and never going more than 3k without a change(always used conventional before the tC), makes me very uneasy about going 10k. I am personally gonna stick to 5k, but according to Toyota, 10k is good enough to not void your warranty sooo, do it if you want I guess.

When I used Mobil 1 on my previous car, I changed the oil every 7K and that was 5w-30. The 0w-20 is so light so I guess that make a big difference changing it every 10K. Plus Eneos is a solid brand oil.

What I’m doing, is what I’ve done with every new car I’ve owned…change the oil & filter at;
1,000; 3,000; 6,000; 9,000; 12,000; 15,000 and every 5,000 there after. The idea here is to get all the break-in debris out of the engine ASAFP.

why go against the rules?
i'm just going to wait and save the time/effort
id rather follow what they say and if something goes wrong...its on them. rather than do my own thing and if something goes wrong...its on me

I just rolled over 8500 miles and now my maintenance required light blinks when I turn on the car.. gonna get my FIRST oil change soon. Everything seems to be running beautiful, checked the oil and it still has a brilliant color to it, almost like it doesn't need an oil change yet. Only problem I've had is about 200 miles ago, I added a 1/4 of a quart of oil bc I saw that the oil was just a bit low ( middle of dipstick marker ).

Did you get you 5k service done? I read on a diffrent car forum, cant remember which, but they also do the 10k intervals for oil, 5k rotations/checks. Anyway, at the 5k mark, the dealers also reset the oil indication because the indicators will light up before you get to 10k. Around 7500 or so. So if you dident get the 5k done, that is probably why.
