Hi everybody! Relay in question is in the pictures below. I just bought my MT 2016 tC in May of this year, and I am loving it so far! One big catch to the whole thing is I got it at a discount since the previous owner absolutely trashed this thing. I've been knocking little and big repairs out ever since I got it, but one of the things I've been unable to do is figure out what sort of wiring job he did after a fender bender that required the removal of the front bumper, seems to have a custom harness plugged into what I assume is a relay that is OEM, but can't figure out what it's used for since the harness goes to dead wiring in the cabin, and somewhere next to the radiator?
I really wish there was a good manual out there for this car, does anybody have any ideas?
That was my guess as well, but the harness he has plugged in doesn't go to the fog lights, and has a wire going into the cabin that didn't connect to anything. So if that is the case, the OEM harness should connect to both fog lights?
Yes I know it wasn't OEM, as stated in the OP, but the OEM harness isn't anywhere to be seen, it would presumably look similar to what is currently plugged in?
Got the same deal on our newly acquired tC... fog lights running off that relay with a big mess of wires like it was modified. But whatever it was was removed... found a power and ground coming off that relay and touched to battery, fog lights came on. There is a push switch on the dash for them. So now gotta figure out best way to get power to this relay. Either to go directly off the battery which is cheesy IMO, or to figure out where to get IGN switched power from the underhood distribution box. That would be best, but can't find wiring diagrams. Also, how to get the power wire to exit the dist box, there isn't a place to do that with the way the lid seals.
