I actually had a 5E-FHE with a ct9 on it (which I eventually upgraded to a td04l). I learned a few things from that experience which may be helpful.

1. The CT turbos are... ok. They are heavy, thrust bearing, and top out around 18 psi. It seems sort of small (It was well matched on the 2.0L MR2).
2. Once they go it's hard to find rebuild kits. Mine died in spectacular form, shooting oil out about three feet in the air from the blow off valve. It was pretty cool. This might be less of an issue on the ct26 as it's more popular stateside
3. The flanges are different from many popular turbos, limiting upgrade/replacement potential
4. Prices on good turbos have dropped a lot, so it's easier to justify spending a little more and getting a solid BB turbo with a popular flange fitting.

All that being said, they are solid turbos with a bit of a following. I probably wouldn't do it, but if you want to go for it :D

You can always buy a NA header and lop off the flange. It's a bit ghetto and the turbo ends up oddly low, but it works on a budget.

its says camry on there.. I thought we have a camry engine.. ?

wiki:
"The AR engine family is a straight-4 piston engine series by Toyota, first introduced in 2008 for the RAV4, and subsequently for the Highlander, Venza, and Camry.
The AR series uses a die-cast aluminium engine block and aluminium DOHC cylinder head. The engine series shares many of the technologies in the AZ engine, while incorporating new features such as continuously variable valve timing on both intake and exhaust camshafts or dual VVT-i.....The AR engine replaces the AZ engine."

^^^ I'd be optimistic about this..
Maybe not enough to personally spend the money on a part that may not fit properly.
But, I'd like to think in the transition between these engines Toyota would minimize the number of things they have to change in the production process for cost concerns. So Hopefully the size/shape of the ports as well as bolt pattern and spacing around the exhaust ports are the same..

yARDLEY JUST make sure the turbo manifold lines up with the studs and then tighten it down. Make sure there are no clearance issues that would cause exhaust leaks.

On the Ct9 I personally have no experience running lower spec/size turbo's but for the 2AR 2.5 it will need atleast a moderately sized turbo IE. T3/T4 57 trim,16G,Precision 5431 or 3431 and so on. You are definitely acquiring the CT9 at low cost but I wouldn't recommend it. You will hit 6psi far too quick to enjoy boost and end up upgrading anyway.

Just get a 16g or turbo similar and have the ability to go higher if you wish.
Good luck man the 2AR has great potential.

Just looked at the Greddy blog for there time attack TC and the head does look slightly different to the 2AZ so you might encounter some problems mounting the old 2AZ turbo manifold.

Let us know how it turns out.

He said ct26, a ct9 is tiny.

The head was the main thing that was redesigned in the 11+, getting vvt-i and an acis manifold. I doubt they are the same, but it would be awesome if it is.

Lol. No ____ Sherlock. By definition he'd be buying a turbo manifold. A header and a turbo manifold are two different things.
