3 boxes of 36 sq ft and 2 sheets from another pack, 116 square feet total.
I can tell you if you do it this way you'll no longer be driving a Scion TC, cause you will think it's a LEXUS TC! Quiet, Solid feeling, and stays cooler inside. And your stereo system will sound INCREDIBLE. I have a JL 10W3 with a JL 500/1 hooked to it and cranked NOTHING rattles or vibrates, you can get in the back seats and hatch area and you won't hear anything but the sub and mid bass, really tightens up the sound. It's amazing.
Amazon 1 box $99.35 free shipping, I would say 20-30 hours depending on how fast you are, I'm a bit slow and meticulous.

I totally think it's worth it, it's amazing the difference. I did my car and let my friend drive it afterwards to compare it to his and he cut me a check for the materials and is paying me 500 in labor. It's a huge difference, you will lower road noise and your cars stereo speakers will sound even better. I have let 2 other 2012 TC owners drive my car and both were amazed with the difference.
Pros: Lower road noise levels in side the car. No vibration noises in the hatch from the sub or speakers ANYWHERE even at full vol. (tested with JL500/1 and JL 10W7 sub) Car stays cooler. Luxury car feel, doors are so quiet when shutting, interior is quieter. The effects make the car feel smoother, solid and not like a tin can. You'll find you won't have to turn your stereo up as loud. Even with the windows cracked or down it's quieter than stock!
Cons: The installation is time consuming and tedious. Materials for the job are a bit messy, edges are sharp and you will get minor cuts. Adds weight to the car. 60-85 lbs depending on how much you use.
If you could drive my car you would be ordering right now!

Man.. if only I had the time and guts to tear apart my car like that and add that. Would be worried about messing something up if I did it myself. Wonder how much a dealer would charge me to do a full install like that 0.o
I checked with a local stereo shop. They basically told me they charge 1.5 times the cost of the materials in labor because it's custom work.
So in this case 3.5 bulk packs at a the shop at $150 each would be $525 for materials, labor would be $787.00, grand total for the job at a stereo installation place would be $1,312.50.
I sold myself WAY short doing my neighbors car. $350 in materials and $400 in labor. I tied up about 35 hours, of sweat, cuts and bleeding and work on the project. Plus while I was there ordered adapters and alpine r rear speakers and soldered / heat shrinked the wires as well. A stereo shop charges 50-70 per side to install speakers.
So my neighbor next door was without his car for a little over a week and got a killer deal, but it's okay, I made enough money to buy myself a toy. Upgrading my W3 sub to a W6 and will sell the W3.
Save some more money upgrade my front speakers to Hertz High Energy 3 way components.

BTW you can take your car apart like that. I'm telling you the scion is extremely EASY!!! It's just time consuming...
I did my car for $400 bucks in materials and tools all by myself. Then made another $400 doing a 2nd car...
I'm seriously thinking about posting up and pulling in another one if someone wants to test drive mine and then pay me to do the work...
Last thought, I got to compare the Alpine SPR coaxials in his car to the Hertz Energy speakers in my car. Both sound really good but the Hertz win hands down!

Start from the hatch area of the car, remove the panels and rear seats. Cover your carpet area with an old blank to avoid getting anything on it and to sit on. Don't sit on the dynamat if you can help it, your weight will push a bit of the buytl backing out of seams and it gets sticky, no big deal but it comes off with mineral spirits but is a bit of a pain to clean up.
Do the doors next. Then lastly remove the front seats, center console carpet, be sure to unclip the electrical connectors on the wiring under the front seat before removing them so you don't damage anything there, they are a bit of a pain to remove but just keep looking at the tabs you can push to remove them, they come off but are a pain.
You will get some cuts and nicks for sure you can try gloves, didn't work for me trying to peel the paper backing off and such.
