i'm not sure but the 2011 standard pioneer headunit doesn't have HD radio while the standard 2012 head unit in the photo does.

i know the premium alpine one does have HD

Last night I tried to install a 2012 tC stereo into my 2011. Everything worked correctly except the bluetooth. It says that it needed something connected. So looks like it will need a microphone or something to make it work. No 2012 parts catalog yet to verify with, but as soon as i figure it out I will let you guys know.

Should be end of august, I have the the 2012 RS7 ordered and this was the date they quoted me. And the price is $300 more than last years. The cars are identical except the head unit so not much has changed.

So the 2012 basic HU is $300? I want to replace my 2011 basic Pioneer with the 2012 basic Pioneer. What about the other 2012 Pioneer with full face touch screen?

I am not sure if that is the case, I am just saying the new price and the only changes that I am aware of. Call a scion dealer I am sure they can tell you the price.

Not yet, waiting on either a 2012 scion to show up here at the dealership or for the parts cataloge to be released for it.

This is what came with mine. I'm pretty impressed with it, the touch screen responds well once you get used to it. Allow you to browse iPod playlists, which is neat. The bluetooth works well, other people say they can hear me pretty clearly, and the audio comes through well. All in all, it was worthy putting down the extra money for.

Are the buttons on the left side touch based or does it feel like a button when you press it?

And the carbon fiber trim panel is that new for 2012?

Carbon fiber didn't come with mine, pretty much what KidJustin said.

The buttons have taken me a couple days to get used to. It's touch based, which is cool, but is weird at first. Once you get used to it, and get a feel for how hard to press, where to press, etc, it works just fine and I haven't had any issues with it. Except that it can be a major distraction if you're not careful.

I believe it's integrated into the overhead light/moonroof controls. The best solution for 2011 owners is probably to use the 2011 Blu Logic microphone in conjunction with the 2012 radio.

In Canada, the Pioneer Premium unit is a factory installed only option. Since I bought my 2012 car while it was still on the boat coming over, I couldn't get this option added at the dealer. So I bought a unit from a US dealer and installed it myself. There was a mic connection for the overhead mic that pluged directly into the head unit. My Blu Logic unit is now disabled. The HU looks so much better than the stock one. Love the Scion icon splash screen during power up too.

When the 2012's were still on the boat the new deck wasn't available yet up here and we still had the 2011 Alpine premium deck option.

But now the 2012 Pioneer premium deck is available as an option for new Scion owners. No more Blu Logic Bluetooth for us.

So those that bought the 2012 in the first few weeks kinda got screwed out of a sweet deck option.

I wouldn't really say 'factory installed'... It's more like Toyota Canada Warehouse installed lol.

Hi, I'm new to this forum, while doing my searching I found this thread. I have a 2012 scion (PT546-00120) head unit that I really like to install in my 4runner, I'm willing to do mods if needed. Just wanna ask you if you have found the microphone that works with this HU. If yes, whats the part number and where did you purchased it?

Also I noticed that it has a diff. outlet/socket for the antenna, do you have any issues with this (antenna)?

BTW, people at toyota4runner.org are saying that you guys are the right people to ask about scion. Thanks a lot.
