I don't know the answer right now. I don't have a scion HU audio operating manual (I'm really in the dark). But as soon as I get one and have an answer to your issues I'll get back to you. Thanks for the reply.

You can only access the initial Bluetooth settings when the car is not running. Should be the option just below audio.

The mic is located in front of the switch to open the sun roof. Its a 5 wire connector that plugs directly into the Pioneer Premium head unit. If you have the stock unit then you may have the Blu Logic system that uses its own mic but the output ties in with the existing speakers too.

When I first installed my premium HU I missed the connector and had to pull the HU and dig around to find it. Now I have the Blu Logic out, and I replaced the center console so I don't have the existing Blu Logic control buttons showing. $30 to replace the plastic panel.

Its the Pioneer Premium HU option.

Toyota part number PT546-00121.

The manual lists the model number as CVH-2018ZT.

I've attempted to contact Pioneer a few times to ask about getting the video to work with it. The manual refers to a VTR unit and I can't find a video input connector on any of the wire harnesses.

I test drove the RS 7.0 today at the dealership. It's touch based, but it's like slightly embossed. No "click" or anything when you press it. The unit looks really awesome.

Guys..

I am bit confused

I went to the dealer today and checked out a 2012 7.0 as this is all they had, and it had installed the base "tC's standard 200 watt, Pioneer audio system " which I believe is the same head unit on the non 7.0... I noticed the car had a mic also mounted on the steering colum, I asked the sale rep where is the mic for the bluetooth and indicated its the one on the steering colum...

So what which mic location is used with the base "tC's standard 200 watt, Pioneer audio system " (steering coloum, or the one up by the sunroof switch???)

thanks again guys!

regards

It sounds like the 7.0 you were looking at was ordered with the premium Pioneer HU. If it has the touch screen then it is. The base head unit does requires a seperate bluetooth system located in behind the HU, hence the mic on the steering column. The wire harness on the 2012 tC has a mic plug that connects to the premium HU so I suspect the dealership kept the original BluLogic unit in the car. If you do buy the 7.0 I suggest to take out the BluLogic unit, and connect the cars internal mic to the premium HU. The 200 watt system has built in BT and I think it sounds clearer.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

I have a 2011 blu-logic system with mic on steering wheel.

The problem I am having is that my iPhone 4 (not S) activates the noise reduction option all the time.

This ends up with the caller not being able to hear me at all or being a mumble. I always cover the top mic on the phone and that results in a clear conversation all the time because it doesn't pick up background noise to reduce.

I read this is a problem with the iPhone 4 itself and not the Bluetooth system.

Hey guys...

So I have decided to go with the pioneer premium H/U that is offered on the 2012, but another question for you blackberry users is that I have the bold 9900, has anyone had any issue(s) with the phone control features built into the h/u and phone.. The sales rep demoed the unit to me with his iPhone and the interface worked flawless making calls from the hu, accepting incoming calls, etc....

Thanks again for your feedback ..

Went and visited the dealer again and had them test linking my bb9900 to the head unit and it worked flawless.

I know this thread is old, but....I am getting around to doing this, and putting a 2012 base model HD radio in my 2011 TC. I know the HU will go in no prob, but I am wondering about the routing of the microphone. I would like to locate it the same as the 2012's..up in the map light area....any advice???
