Dyno!
I Dynoed my 2011 tC today... I did 3 pulls and made:
1. 164.2whp 166wtq 4th gear
2. 165.5whp 162.4wtq 3rd gear
3. 163.8whp 165.1wtq 4th gear
I had it Dynoed at Jotech using a DYNOJET
This is gonna be Jotechs 1st 2011 to do work on. And we are attacking suspension first, followed by boltons just to see what we can squeeze out of the motor NA. Then when we find a kit or decide to build our own, we will turbo it.
Good day

Thanks guys, I'll do my best to keep everyone updated with my build. I am still in college, so it's gonna be slow. But it will be done the right way. I am gonna be honest though, I was hoping for the "underrated" lie to be truth... But I am just happy to know my power and the power starts to drop after 6k RPMs btw.(if anyone is interested)

I don't see how that would be possible... The car just doesn't feel like it can gain any power from anything but F/I... It feels sluggish and slow to me. But that would be pretty awesome! Btw, is the correct percentage of drivetrain loss from the motor to the wheels 20%? if that's so, then my car would be pushing around 198.6hp to the crank yes?

^no one truly knows what the percentage of drivetrain loss really is, people guestimate 15-20%, although with the tech nowadays id venture closer to 10-15% loss, if that, more for automatics.

Seeing as how it weighs more than the 1st gen, thus runs pretty close to it in times... no, it is not a competitor to the si. Not mod for mod at least. Handling wise you could make it a closer competition on the new, heavy si's. I have yet to have a new si come close to me on an autox course. However, that doesnt mean that the drivers were experienced enough to call it even either. My guess would be with equal drivers on an autox course, the new si "should" be close to or even slightly better than a tC in theory.
And loss on a newer, fwd, manual tranny car should be about 12-15%. That aligns with most stock dynos I have ever seen on fwd cars and the info that is out there. 20% would be closer to a rwd loss. So you should be putting down 160ish to the wheels, which you are, which supports the 180bhp claim from the factory.

in my opinion, i think the 1st gen was a civic si competitor. i raced and 8th gen with full exhaust, intake, ss, and hondata, i had intake full exhaust he got 1 car on me and second time we tied. the 2nd gen seems to have potential though, not sure how i would feel about driving a 6 speed however...
