Help! Fuel Consumption?! 15-23MPG
I drive my 2011 TC2 28 Miles each way to work, totaling 56 miles a day. I have been getting 15-17 MPG in the City and 20-23 MPG on the Freeway max!!! The drive is flat. The cost is painful and is costing a small fortune. Got similar fuel mileage out of a v8 Jeep! I've tried 87 octane 89 octane and 93 octane. The only difference I've experienced is a smoother idle with 93. I shift at 2k-22k rpms religously. I have No performance mods, But I do Use a K&N filter with the factory air box. All other mods are visual/cosmetic. Oil Change is every 5000 Miles, spark is good, tires are new and correctly inflated. 26,000 Miles on odo and I am the original owner, and have never gotten on the throttle. Anyone have any Ideas? Remedies? Please Help!

start looking up hypermiling techniques online. i've been able to push out 600 miles out of a tank before... which was kinda scary.. i was running on fumes (which you should never do)..
but nonetheless.. my personal best.. all highway, 40mpg.. but alas.. average speed was slow.. was doing about 55-60mph the entire way.
otherwise, i can get about 36 mpg normally.. it is what conservative driving can do. when you're broke, you don't care about speed.. you care about mileage and how much distance you can go with the least amount of gas.
shifting too early can hurt mileage too.. you grow into learning what the car likes.. and doing what it wants to get better mileage.
also, do not buy cheap gas.. run-down stations that have poorly maintained tanks can end up giving you bad mileage. i recommend top-tier brand stations... and 87 is all you really need.

from what i've seen, the car likes staying around 2500rpm.. which is convenient because as that's pretty much about 65mph on the highway. (much better than the ~2700RPM that the 1st gen tC was at when at 65mph)
keep the speed down, and the mileage improvement is significantly better.. obviously not as fun for most people.. but whatever.
