HID problem...
I have 6000k HID in my car and one of the bulbs has stoped working...
now my question is how do i know if its the bulb or the ballast
the bulb flickers on when i first turn the lights on but stops and just stays off...
i have 6000k bulbs run with a relay...
thanks

since the bulb flickers, i'd assume the ballast since a dead bulb wouldn't even go on at all
to test it (since one side is still working)...swap them between each other as a trial and error to troubleshoot the problem
ex. if driver side works, but passenger side doesn't
put the driver ballast with the passenger bulb...does it work? if yes then the passenger ballast should be the problem. if no then it might be the passenger bulb
also try putting the passenger ballast with the driver bulb...see what happens from there to figure out the problem(s)

same thing just happened to me and thats why im rolling like this...

it was flickering non stop and i hear clicking next to the ballast, i was pretty sure that ballast was the issue but then i took the bulb from the working side and it worked no problem therefore pointing to a bad bulb. moral of the story: even if the ballast is clicking its just because its trying to ignite the xenon gas inside the bulb but is unsuccessful so keep trying....

Good advice on the bulb swap. Thanks, guys.
If HID bulbs are anything like Halogens, I would
wipe the glass off with a new paper towel (over cautious LOL )
to be sure I don't get any finger "oil" on the bulb.

mine are high quality racesport HIDs
the reason they went is because my headlights are tied to the ignition aka lights are on whenever the engine is on. I am at 25K miles now if they were on only during night time theyd last til 100k....
