If I get new shocks at 50,000 miles (which according to the Monroe squirrel, your supposed to do ;-)), dont the springs have to come off at the same time?

What if I got new shocks at a shop and then just asked them to throw on some TRD's in stead of stock?

I know its a relatively easy thing to change shocks and springs, I'm just worried about all the horror stories I hear of people doing it wrong.

 

Springs and shocks normally both go around 60k. Springs have to come out to get struts done. Get the trds while everything is apart.

They go in exactly the same way right? Is there anything special that a shop would have to do when putting in the TRD springs instead of the stock springs?
I have done some research and have come across bump stops?

 

No they would go on the same way, only thing about bump stops is that some springs require you to cut the factory one but i dont think the TRD's do so you sould be fine but if they do should be a problem and shouldnt charge you anymore cuz it take a total of like 2 seconds.
