Default Lighting Updates

Decided to finally get off DDM's nuts and wow...I'm super amazed at the quality of some real HID's from The Retrofit Source.

Don't get me wrong, the DDM's worked great for me, no issues, good color, bright enough. I just felt like it was time for a change, and I'm super glad I went this route.

I got the Morimoto HID Elite System with the 5Five DSP Ballast and XB35 6000k bulbs. With the DDM's I sorta struggled and placed the ballast anywhere using double stick tape. With the Morimoto's they actually came with brackets to easily screw them into the frame! No more worry about them getting lose or falling out or even left over sticky resedue.

(I've very proud of myself for how well I tucked away all of the components, it might be hard to see in the pictures because they are so tucked away)
Driverside Morimoto ballast installed with the same mounting point as my CAI

It's probably the most exposed component, but its nice and neat under the CAI and I have the wires tucked behind running under the gap between the CAI and the battery. out of sight.

Now let's see if you can spot the ballast on the passengerside

This is a vew from inside the engine bay facing out. Towards the bottom is where the radiator cowl would be, the ballast is mounted vertically inbetween the gap between the frame and the raditor. The wires are tucked going down and along the bottom of the headlight

This is a new one for all you DDM/basic HID system users

This is the HD relay that comes with the Morimoto HID Elite system. It draws direct power from the battery and has a fuse for safey. There are connects to each ballast and only one of the stock H11 sockets (it's only used as the trigger on when to turn the lights on/off). It also has ground wires at each end of the ballast connections.

What trips me out the most is that the relay wires are cleanly wrapped in a type of thread coating which basically makes the wires untangleable as well as protected. I ziptied all the extra wire together and/or to different parts of the frame

Here are the XB35 bulbs in the driverside and passengerside respectively

And this is a light output from the driverside only

I installed it pretty late last night and only tested it in my garage. I can't wait to take the car out tonight and really see how these bad boys works!

...additional updates
You might have noticed I also changed my Highbeams to 65w halogen bulbs from autolumination as well as changing the front side markers from amber to super white

...oh yea, and no more LED DRLs. I know I'm one of the pioneers of it, one of the best executed setups, but I'm going for a different look. I want more of that OEM super clean styling and plus a few LEDs failing were an eye sore or stupid expensive to have to redo an entire strip for just a few LEDs. If anyone ever wants to mimic my setup I'd be more than happy to walk you through it, just let me know.

That's all for now. The next update(s) should be a big one! So stay tuned!!

No, the Headlights and bumper are different, they may bolt in, but it will look like crap.

Had this for a while but finally got around to installing it over the long weekend.

Had to do some modifications and cutting to make it fit my exhaust and 5ad rear kit

The heck did you do to the poor rear of the car? All you need now is the industrial 7" aluminum spoiler. You'll finally reach new lows to compete with the rice contained in alot of modded Civics.
