That fix really sounds like the same as 1st Gen tC's TSB (nv007-06).

One would imagine Toyota could not possiblt repeat the same issue with the 2nd Gen. After all, sunroof is not even a new invention and many manufacturers have solid (non-rattling) sunroofs for decades.

It is a bit disappointing, but at least there is a solution in place.

Congratulations! All my dealer told me is that it's "normal!" Maybe now I can convince them to do something about it (probably not)!

I had a Toyota FTS look at my car and he refused to repair anything. My roof still makes this noise with no remedy in sight. A Toyota rep. "thanked" me for informing them of issues with the car but would not help in any way to get this fix applied.

Try emailing the Director of Service Dept at that dealership or any other in your area.
State the problem, how long its been occurring and how your recent service visit was unproductive. I think once they see something in writing they tend to "hear" you.
I tried this method and had a Service Advisor calling me within a few hours,
I had the Service Bulletin from 2005 "Moonroof making clicking noises" NV00706 ready as a reference. BTW the dealership where I bought mine was useless so I went a few miles farther and bingo. A little hit and miss but perserverence will pay off.
Good Luck!

The FTS is as high as it goes with Toyota. He's above the dealer level. If he says to ____ off there's not much to be done about it.

For Reference: The great service dept at World Scion in Atlanta, Geogia actually got it done as a warranty fix without an official 2011 service bulletin.
Having the old 2005 SB in hand describing the exact same problem seemed to do the trick.
Thanks again to the poster who dug that one up for us!

Until now I've been dealing personally with the service manager. I'm in the middle of composing a letter to the CEO of Toyota USA to express my dissatisfaction at everything that's transpired with my car since I bought it. It took almost a year to finally get my tC's engine rattle addressed, for example, and the way it was handled was totally unprofessional.

I would rather not disclose the dealer's name over the internet. I brought it there more than once but the important thing is that it reached the highest point of escalation and the issue was not addressed.

HOWEVER, I have been dealing with a Scion representative for some time now and he has assured me that they know about this problem and that a fix is in the works. At this point I think it's best for everyone to get this issue documented on the dealer level, ensuring that the dealer contacts Scion directly to document your concerns (and open a TAS case) if they have not already done so.

i'm curious, do you guys drive with the moonroof open often or sometimes?

I dont have this issue (yet?) but that's because i never drive with the moonroof open. heck, i rarely opened my moonroof period. only a few times when i first got the car then a few times for novelty sake.

I've opened my moonroof perhaps 5 times since I bought my tC over a year ago.

Lately it's been rather warm so I just open it slightly in the first position.

To me this gets a lot of the stale air out of the car.

But the noise does get annoying when going over bumps....

Just bumping this thread to see if anyone has heard of recent progress from Scion regarding the sunroof popping on the tc2. My roof, unlike most people's makes the noise more often when it is hot. I've enjoyed a few months off from the popping while it has been cold outside. With spring arriving, I am back to the land of the annyong pop.

Anyways, they bought the car back from me. I'm thinking they'd be more serious about this problem because they wouldn't want to be buying back more of these cars with this problem.
How'd you get them to buy yours back? PM me please!
