Well all I can say is the more of us complain the closer we are to getting this addressed as a problem.

I wanted to tear the car apart but corp recommended me not to because of warranty issues. If they can't get this fixed soon I'm tearing the roof apart and getting the fix for everyone. I'm to the point now I don't even want the car anymore.

Default Small Victory!

Well guys today I took my wife to pick up her car from getting the oil changed. On the way over to the dealer the car starts the pop/tick noise like crazy. It is a cool 75 out today. So we pull up and I grab the service manager, Hey Phil wanna go for a ride? He gets in and before we get out of the dealership parking lot it starts the noise. For about mile test drive with me trying the sunroof open/closed holding different areas of the sunroof rails it's still popping like Rice krispies!

So we get back to the dealer and he will be contacting Scion and the Toyota rep Monday to let them know that he heard the "NOISE" I know it's not a fix but yet another step closer to getting this figured out.

Well if the dealer is not able nor wants to tear it apart and try to fix it the next step is arbitration or the buy back from Toyota. not sure I really want another tC after this but, who knows.

I would be surprised if this is sufficient for Toyota to execute a buy-back, but it certainly would be one way to end the torture of listening to the creaks and rattles of the sunroof while driving a newly purchased car.

Default Update!!! Possible fix

Well I got a call this morning from the dealer. Another dealership had the rep from Toyota out and a customer brought his car in making the same sunroof noise. The rep had the tech take the car apart and has apparently has come up with a fix. Something to do with the sunroof rail where it is attached to the roof. I dropped my car just now. Keeping my fingers crossed on this one.

That is spectacular news. However, I am not too thrilled with the "take the car apart" portion. Keep us posted. I am soon to take it in for the 5K service and would like to make one trip.

Mine does. Rattles + pop pretty much describe the problems I am having.

Alright just got off the phone with the dealership. The car is being put back together and they are going to test drive it tomorrow in the morning and afternoon. So I was told it was a tab on the sunroof rail touching the body making the noise. I will get more info tomorrow on what was done to fix it and if it did fix the problem. Fingers crossed!

I hope it fixes it. It's got to the point where I hate driving my car and listening to it.

Default There is a FIX! WooHoo!

Well I have some GREAT news guys. I got the car back last Friday. I wanted to drive it for a few days to see what happens. Well I am so happy to tell all of you that they have appeared to have fixed the noise!

The dealer took the whole headliner down and and out. There are about 15 spots where the sunroof rails attach to the car body. Some of the front and all the passenger side tabs were rubbing metal to metal according to them. They took and applied a felt type of material that has a sticky side in between the tabs and I am proud to say four days later still no noise. I think they are posting a bulletin up or you can have your dealership call Avondale Toyota in AZ and talk them about getting yours fixed.

I hope this helps!
Chris

That's awesome news!!

Thank god it's cold and I don't have to open my sunroof but when it was warm I didn't like to have it open because all the rattling was annoying and I had a bad feeling that it would just break...
