My AGT20 (2012 tC- Black)
I look for high performance, quality products.. And you dont get that without experience. After researching bits and pieces of info about STD, i have basically found out that although the company is from North America, the product itself is manufactured in Japan. They're are images of Japanese race car drivers- such as Keiichi Tsuchiya, supporting the product, as well as many STD sponsored race vehicles. With that kind of racing heritage, was enough for me to consider the brand. The final decision to actually buy the R3's were the features such as the front upper pillowball mounts, spring rates, and the 12-way dampening. On top of that- i knew i was getting top quality, it even showed in the packaging with how much care they took into protecting the product.
For any specific details- just ask, as i will be open to help anyone considering these coilovers also.

Ok so here it is- more pics to come after the height has settled and i adjust it a little more.. really tired right now lol.
Btw, this car is so brand new that i've only bought the suspension and a windshield sun shade, since i've picked it up from the dealer last week thursday. 233 miles on the odometer- i haven't even bought gas for her yet.. so "de-flowering" a car like this was pretty epic. lol.
Before and After pics.. and again- i apologize for the iPhone quality images.

i really don't like how the front wheel well is larger than the rear- creating a bigger tire-to-fender gap, although i've set it to where the side skirt is level to the ground.. in fact, the rear is a little higher but the wheel gap is still much more pronounced in the front.
loving the feel of the suspension (10kg Front, 8kg Rear) Dampening set to softest setting, provides a very firm/sporty feel.. a little stiff for my friends riding with me, but its my car, lol. taking "spirited" corners, and the car really stays planted compared to the factory lift kit.

Oh yes- of course homie. as with almost everyone else- our list of products to own is HUGE... but our wallets are small lol.
I'm just happy i got rid of that factory gap.. i felt embarrassed driving that high (no offense to everyone else at stock height).

Tein Super Streets w/ Upper Pillowball Mounts $1399 (FastScions.com)
Standard Suspension R3 Coilovers $1509
Tein SS:
Twin Tube
16 Levels of Dampening
7 kg Front, 10 kg Rear Spring Rates
STD R3:
Monotube
12 Levels of Dampening
10 kg Front, 8 kg Rear Spring Rates
I'd go monotube over a twin-tube strut/shock due to the ability to handle harsher driving due to it's larger diameter, which also aids in durability and consistency with the damper. The amount of levels for dampening do not really mind me at all- although i like less levels, for more difference in feel between settings (24 or higher is just too much for me personally). The 7kg Front spring rate is a little too soft for me in the front (as thats the side with the engine/trans, i'd rather have it a little stiffer so it won't 'sag' as much and i also like the stiffer feel) 10kg Rear is too stiff for me on the streets (there's not a lot in the rear- you don't need much strength to support that, unless you're tracking and fighting understeer, or carrying a lot of beer in the back lol)
Just a reminder- these are MY personal opinions- feel free to ask questions.

Tein has a pretty bad rep when it comes to quality control, and they are quite overpriced for what they offer. i suggest never to purchase a product because of its Name, Country of Make, or the Hype behind it.. research, research, research and you will always find the true quality products.
Ride Height Numbers as of today..
Measured from ground to arch of wheel well.
Stock:
LF: 27 3/8"
LR: 28"
RF: 27 5/8"
RR: 28"
After the Install:
LF: 26 5/8" (-3/4")
LR: 26 1/4" (-1 3/4")
RF: 27" (-5/8")
RR: 26 5/8" (-1 3/8")
On both sides the front is higher than the rear by 3/8", will be adjusting the RF and LR to match 26 5/8" all around.
Just posting some numbers to get an idea of what you're looking at in the (low-quality) picture.
In case you guys were wondering... YES these babies can go real low, there's proof around the forum.

thanks for the detailed response. What are the ideal spring rates for this car, given its weight distribution? I find it interesting that the Tein's are stiffer in the rear, whereas the STD's are in the front.
I plan to track my car, and put it under harsh driving conditions. This is why I'm looking for the highest quality coilover.
