This past weekend I picked up a VERY clean 2012 Scion tC RS 7.0 6MT. I am very happy with it so far, especially going from my 09 base model Civic 4door.
This will be the first "enthusiast" car I have owned, and me being a brokeboi college student has me daydreaming of all sorts of mods haha. So sorry if I bombard y'all with questions, I'm just eager to learn :D
The CARFAX was very clean, prev owner took really good care of it (even got it detailed at the dealer monthly haha). I am not sure which mods are dealer options or just TRD brand, but here's everything I know that has been done with it:
TRD lowered coils
TRD axleback exhaust
Injen Short Ram Intake
Wheels swapped with tC2.5 wheels
Full TRD bodykit
Ducktail spoiler
Planned/wishful thinking mods + questions pertaining to them:
Backup camera + Android Auto head unit
Short throw shifter
I have read about the Supertek kit being very affordable, good quality, and easy to install, but it seems they have gone out of business and I can't find any on eBay.
I have found some TRD ones for sale, and I know the Supertek is a clone of it basically.
There was one video however that mentioned their TRD kit broke while driving and they had to rig it just to limp home so I am a little wary of their QC. What kits do y'all recommend?
Headers
I have read some good things about Dezod's offerings, but they have also gone out of business. What brands would you recommend?
Would I also need a Tuner to actually take advantage of a nearly full intake/exhaust upgrade? (SRI, catless headers, axleback)
Should I be worried about those upgrades making the engine run lean on the stock injectors, or making the injectors run at full blast?
I am not really interested in any Forced Induction, even though it sounds like a cool path to go down. I think I would be pretty happy with a NA bolt-on autocrossable daily driver build.
Welcome man. That is setup nice. Sucks that you just got it and want to mod it though - all the 'best' parts companies are either out of business or closed their doors on the Scion world since these cars got discontinued by Toyota.
Dezod green is the only header I can personally recommend because of the cat. Any other header rasps terribly bad on this platform. Dezod is gone and no other option has a cat. DC seems to have the least amount of rasp for the available catless setups, but still will over 4000rpm with the TRD exhaust. TBH though a header will only net you about 8hp - not worth it for a CEL and the rasp IMO.
TRD/Supertek STS are dope and definitely recommended if you do not have one already. Supertek is gone but the TRD works great.
For tuning, definitely check out Orange Virus. I have their 3.0 flashtuner and the car is sooooo happy with their tune. Perfect AFR's throughout the whole range and a noticeable power increase. They just released a new software option for the TC2's also.
Good luck with the build, looks like you're starting from a nice car already.

You think the TRD is worth $120-140 compared to the other shifter kits on the market? I am kinda disappointed that Supertek is completely gone, and knowing that its essentially the exact same thing for $30-40.
AFIAK it's the only option anymore as TWM is also gone. So yes, it's worth it. While you're at it pick up the MTEC shifter spring and the Torque Solutions shifter cable bushings and do em all at once.
Quick question, my car has the white/gray leather seats with tC stitching on the headrest. All the other RS7s I've seen have non-leather seats with yellow stitching. I assume leather seats were an option selected by the original buyer?
