Default Speaker ground issue. (Not easy)

Ok I'm not a forum expert but I have searched a few places for this and find nothing.

Thank you anyone that takes time to read this. I really do appreciate it!

2011 scion tc manual. Alpine ( factory upgrade) stereo.

I have added trailer hitch / lights from etrailer. KitI have added sub / amp

Problem is coming from driver door factory 6 x 9 speaker. Not any other speaker

There is a random static noise that fades in and out with no consistency. Driving, stopped, no movement or wind, no change, stereo on, stereo mute, stereo entirely off, keys in and turned to first click... Pretty much any situation with the stereo getting power.

Things I've tried:

Fully disconnected sub / amp (+ not -)Fully disconnected trailer lights (+ not -)

disconnected all wires to stereo except main power and speakers.

Pulled apart door and moved wires around / disconnected everything.

Hooked a wire from 6x9 harness to mid speaker and mid made the same crackle noise.

Is there a ground location for to or from the 6x9?

Is there a factory amp/ EQ going to the 6x9?

Anyone got a wiring schematic of the radio to 6x9?

Again thanks!

There’s no ground for the 6x9
if I recall it’s just a pos neg wire into the speaker like a regular normal speaker

swap both 6x9’s see if persist

it may be a bad speaker
start there

1) Looks like the 6x9 performance is a known issue with that headunit: Alpine Head Unit Defect - Scionlife.com

2). The Factory 6x9's suck. I think the only difference with the Alpine headunit models is the headunit itself and the rest of the audio setup is the same as the standard models. In which case the 6x9's are powered by a small 2Ω amp under the driver seat. They're the only amped speakers in the car and the only 2Ω speakers in the car (everything else is 4Ω) - so connecting those leads to one of the other speakers in the car will sound like garb. You probably blew one of the speakers. They are riveted in so swapping them will be a pain.

I have my stock speakers + amp from my 2014 I could ship you for cheap if you wanted to replace the both and call it a day.

Personally couldn't remember if the stock 6x9's was riveted or not, I know I put OEM audio + speakers swapped for stock and had to rivet that in. Then about 8 years later, I forgot window down, and it poured water, and the 6x9 crackled (must of got water soaked and made it die) I then put a replacement 6x9 from oem audio back in and was fixed. I gave away all my stock speakers when I did the swap or id chip in and donate.

OP, you could use this as an opportunity to update a headunit, I have a 2013 Scion tC (2012) is when I got it, and I had the pioneer upgrade model and enjoyed it for many years, but going to pioneer CarPlay units are SO nice! so if you intend to keep the car, look into crutch field for options. if its indeed either speaker + unit, or both. you can get the speaker above, and get a nice upgrade unit for a few hundred
