transmission knocking sound
Anyone good with transmission noises? yesterday my car started making a knocking sound whenever I reverse or am taking off in 1st, otherwise I don't hear it. I have looked into it a little bit and some people are saying throwout bearing, slave bearing or pilot bearing.
I am just at about 32k miles.

That almost sounds like an engine mount problem. I think if it was a throw out bearing it would do it every gear that you are shifting thru. I think you mean Slave Cylinder. But i could be wrong. By the symptoms thats the first thing i would check.
Could be, I just took out my front motor mount from the GGP and went back to stock, I thought there was only one way to put it in, but maybe the stock mount can go in backwards. That would be so awesome if thats all it is.
I'll pull it tonight and reverse it(hopefully).
That being said, if anyone wants to buy my GGP motor mount, its for sale in the classifieds. Comes with both bushings (race and sport) 65 plus 5 bucks shipping. its too "connected" for a daily driver and I drive too much.

I wonder what they will do though, I have exhaust, intake, short shifter and cable bushings. I know intake and exhaust don't really do anything thanks to magnus and moss act, but will they try to say that my short shifter did it? It has been sticking here and there (i.e. not shifting into reverse or 1st, so I have to take off in 2nd or shift to 1st before I shift to reverse.)
But I hear that is common with these tC's

The stock goes in this way, with the white arrow facing the front of the car. I also had to re-install my front one and forgot which way the stock one went so I popped over to the dealer and snapped this pic.

Just when I move in either reverse or take off in 1st. Don't hear it in the other gears. As far as shifting its fine. It just seemed to stick when I'm at a standstill
My arrow is facing forward, and I just noticed it makes noise when I am in neutral at a standstill.
I'm going to see if I can take out the stock mount, put it back in and maybe check the exhaust to see if that's what's rattling? It really feels like it is in the clutch pedal though:-(

Here is a video I took so you can hear the sound. This was at low rpm, just letting out the clutch from a standstill. I also noticed it making noise when I was in hear letting it wind down, no gas, no clutch
One of the reasons i got rid of my Tc. The trans was a pos from day one and I never abused it.
@ disaster06, have you beat on the car that hard? Living up to your username?!
I am not hating on ya', just curious.

Haha, I have driven it "spirited" from time to time. Haha but its not like I'm redlining it or anything.
Atomic, are you saying yours had a loose bolt somewhere and the dealer fixed it under warranty?
What did you tell them?

No mine was just a pita to shift, especially in cold weather. It reminded me of cars that I have worn out clutches on completly. I gave the trans. until 18k to break in and it never improved. Temps below 40F, you can forget using 1st gear until the car has ran for an hour. The gear oil felt like peanut butter during winter. This was the second and my last Toyota product. Neither impressed me for quality. I enjoyed the car but I did not trust it to go past warranty. I hope they take care of yours and not try to blame it on you.

ok, so I got someone to backup my car while the hood was up and found the problem. My intake was bumping one of my HID Ballasts. I feel so dumb, but am happy that the problem is fixed. Thanks for all the help guys
