What is your mpg?
I was on a mission to get good mpg this semester ( I commute to school) with about 65 miles a week. Before this experiment I was driving about 85 everywhere and getting 29-30 mpg. Now to save gas, I bought k&n filter and started to drive 60mph everywhere . This new way of driving brought my mpg to 35-36 mpg which will save me some money.
I just wanted to know what your mpgs are and what your driving styles are, also do you think higher octane gas would be worth it?

Break or anything, I cruise control the whole trip. By k&n filter I
Mean a drop in filter for $50
first are you auto or manual? that is stellar mpg for this car. if that is city and highway combined (assuming most is highway) and including traffic in there too.

My mpg was 30mpg for my first 5,000 miles which i though was amazing since that's including traffic (i also commute to school.) and a little bit of fun driving. then i got around 27-28mpg, idk why. Last time i went in for service, the 10,000 mile mark my mpg was 29 i think.
Right now I'm at 29.4-29.5mpg and i think again that's really good for the kind of driving i do. I am mostly at 60-70mph on highways.
Here is some experimental info you may want to hear - it's kind of fun:
When i first got the car i wanted to find out the absolute best mpg it can get on highway and the best in city (that's without traffic and mild aggression).
I tested by using the car's mpg feature and started testing when i got onto highway, drove for 30 mins, and stopped when i got off. same for city. i started when driving in empty streets (few cars) and ended 30-40 mins after that. traffic lights and stops were included in city test.
Basically on highway the best i got was 38.5mpg and in city it got 29.0mpg i think.
Mine is manual trans.

jgj925, you would be keeping rpms from 2,000rpm to 3,000rpm when shifting and cruising. do not race past 3,000rpms and accelerate smoothly always. that nets good mpg. maybe not the best, but it will be good. also be cruising on highway in 6th whenever possible.(ie. w/o traffic)
My cruising rpm is about 1.9k and 60-62 mph. And when I accelerate I make sure that the Eco light is always on. I know it may seem I'm driving like a wimp, but I think of it as a challenge to get the best mpg I can get
best mpg for any car is to drive with consistent foot on throttle, w/o much change at all when speeding up or down. basically drive silky smooth and you will get amazing mpg.
i drive stick so i am not familiar with Eco lights and the particular auto trans for our cars.
my cruising rpms are around 2,500-2,800rpms at roughly 70 mph. this is if i am in a hurry. (maybe i go past 70mph but usually never above 79. 80 seems to be the cutoff point for getting stopped, or you can slow down faster when below 80mph if you see an officer before they speed trap you. idk the details, but it works for me.)
if i am not in a hurry i go 65mph and my rpms are around 2,500 maybe less.

I am curious in the auto version of the car, do you hear a faint drone of the engine/exhaust when cruising?
I am not touching my intake or anything in the bay. anymore at least (i had to to install a quickshifter, and then uninstall it lmao).
I hear the premium fuel=better mpg is a myth. idk. try it and let us know.

yeah my stock tC is loud. this kind of confirms my suspicion that manuals are louder than autos in terms of exhaust. I can hear my exhaust pretty much always, if i am accelerating, ESPECIALLY when decelerating. makes an epic booming noise when i get near 1,000-1,500rpms when decelerating. 3rd and second gears in low rpms is very loud.
I would not buy an intake just to save gas. filter is another idea. if it truly outlasts other types of air filters then it may be worth it for sure.
