Default 16" steelies?

I was shopping on tirerack for winter wheels/tires and 16" steelies came up as fitting the 2016 tC. I'm wondering if anybody can confirm that these will fit with the stock brake setup. If so, why do they put 18s on the tC from the factory if the brakes will fit in 16s just fine? Seems like a waste of unsprung weight to me ...

Hey Jordan, fits perfect, no worries. I have 16" on my tC and works fine, obviously doesn't looks nice at all (any steelies looks nice) and the gap between fender and tire is big, but is not a bad thing, because on really snowy days this gap helps to keep clearance between the fender and the tire... Not sure where you live, but here in Canada, definitively is a good thing... I have attached a picture to show you how it looks. I have put a Matrix covers on the rims to help a little on the ugliness of the steel rims. Sorry, looks like the picture was attached upside down, but you can figure out.

Awesome, that's good to hear. I think I'll move forward with that then.
