Default Auto x tire thread!!!

I haven't seen one in the tC2 forum yet. So I plan to start one.

I am looking for what does and does not work.

Best bang for buck.

Best tire period if $ is not an issue.

And what tire has grip for the track and can last a good while for daily driving.

Hopefully this thread can answer anyone's questions without them having to ask.

Dude you are so wrong. hehe. For a auto x tire. you need to know what class you plan on driving in. I race in street touring. In a street tire class you are limited to a tread wear of 140. the best street tire you can get right now would be the Hankook rs3s the v12s are not in the same world as these tires. 2nd to that for our car would be the dunlop star specs more expensive not as good in the dry but a little better in the wet.

http://www.eurotuner.com/techarticle...ide/index.html

Also see here for the high performance tire guide. the best tire last year may not be the best this year. Right now the rs3s are top dogs. also they are in so high of demand they are sold out a lot of the time. When i got my set they had been sold out for over 6 months. You can also check out the scca forums and check out the nationals results they are taking place as we speak. You can see what tire each person was running.

Now if you are running in stock class you would be running in hstock and in stock classes you can run r-comps. Most go with the hankooks or hoosiers. but those tires are close to 1200 to 1500 bucks. and only last about 100 runs if your lucky. And these tires are not to be driven on the street. My rs3s have almost 3000 miles on them and about 62 runs so far and are in good shape.

^hah. well I guess your list is better for an auto-x only tire. my mindset is auto-x/dd tire so I've been looking at slightly higher tire ratings. tC isn't going to be super competitive as to have an auto-x only set in my opinion.

I daily drive on my rs3s and race with them on the weekends. I have a set of all seasons in the garage for winter. As for the tc is can be competive in Hstock and well as street touring as long as the 80s civics dont show up. Also next year the tc will get its own class called street touring forward. Its meant for our type of heavy current gen forward cars.

Also to be clear you can run your street tires in the hstock class also. most of the season guys will be running r comps but you can still run your street tires.

^ not too sure if thats the most recent one, but yeah. basically making ST more suitable to the newer FF cars. BBK's and LSD's are being made legal in ST

Bumping an old thread....

I plan on building up my '12 tC into a competitive HS car and am looking into getting hoosier A6's. I'm just wondering if anyone here is running tires wider than 225s on a stock size rim (ie 18x7.5).
