Default bra or clear film protectent ?

Just checking what the concensus is here.
Has anyone tried one of those clear tape kits on ebay, from 3M or another distributer ? I hear a real, 3M kit is fairly expensive($250+).
What about a front end "half mask" , that protects the frontal part of the hood ?

Who has the 411 on this ?

in looking into the 3M clear protectent, its looking like a full kit(bumper, hood/grill, fender fronts, and side mirror fronts) = can be had for about $150 shipped

Looks like that is the way I'll go.

clear kit all the way! bras are too ugly and you risk the chance of it rubbing your paint if any dirt gets underneath.

Yes, looks like I'll go this way.
Looks like complete kit, bumper+front fenders+grill+hood+front side mirrors+head lights+fog lights = about $165

i don't know, i had clear bra on previous cars and it gets yellow after time. some companies say it won't, but everything ages with time. i even took very good care of my cars that had them and it still yellowed. the clear bra will also start pulling in and dirt will stick the residue left behind. it pulls in since you have to stretch it to fit your car. when i got the last new car i picked up a vinyl bra that i used for road trips and remove it for daily driving.

was that clear bra you had in the past 3M ?... or some no-name product ?

Good point though, with installing a bra before doing a big road trip. Then again, you never know when your gonna get pebbles/rocks kicking back at your ride!

i had the rockblocker (not sure if he is still a member here) which was 3m and another which was 3m also. if you have a normal driving route to a job than you probably know what you will encounter on the roads. i drive the same route to work and i know i can go another route, but i will be behind more trucks so i avoid that route. the one variable is when i do road trips so i put on my bra and have protection and it keeps the front end clean.

update.
Word is, if you have a white car , the clear 3M protectant may (I stress may... because no one can definitively tell me for sure) turn yellow after "X" amount of years on the car Ugggggggggggg.
Anyone know about this?

i've had the clear 3m on my FM tC for a little over three years and i have no complaints at all! It looks the same as the day it was installed, but then again it is a dark colored car. I actually just took the 3m off my front bumper because i hit a deer and there was scratches and a little crack on the bottom of it so i took it off and am sellin it. it definitely protects the paint because it looks brand new now.

As for the install... when i first got it there was a dude who just came to my house, cut the vinyl in his van, and installed. when i recently had it installed on my new bumper, the shop i had my body work done at had a dude that came out and put it back on.
