they are on the same platform. the xa, xd and yaris are based off the echo/belta platform

 

xA and Echo were on the same platform. The Yaris and xD are on the same platform.

While the Yaris and Echo are similar in many ways, there are quite a few differences between the two chassis'.

 

Lets just wait and see....

 

As long as its larger in size, has more power and less fuel economy, I will be happy, NOT!!!!

 

I saw 2 xD's today in the massive traffic backups coming out of Charlotte today. They were both very dirty but I'm sorry they still don't cut it with me. I even went a sat in one at the local dealer and right now I'd buy the 3 door Yaris over the xD, I also like my interior better.

i doubt this would happen....i love the center speedo though i do have to say... in CT and RI were i drive like crazy im actually seeing less xbs and tcs out and about and tuns of xA's i just dont understand that one if you ask me... in my parkinglot at my salon there were 3 xAs going into the stores.... and mines sitting at home in the garage waiting for good weather... lol its just odd

 

I could see it happening if the xD sales were worse than the xA sales. Which wouldn't surprise me at all. The scene isn't taking off like it should be, the same with the new xB. With a little bit of luck we'll see them both come back...probably with different names, but we'll know why and what they are. Hell, the micro mags are covering the xAs now more than ever, it's unbelievable how much you see them. I guess people don't realize how good they had it until it's gone, neh? xD and new xBs are no where to be found.

 

if it comes back it will NOT be called xa scion is not going back on names they are moving foward.

Wow, all i can say is wht the hell did honda do to the Fit? I call that Pugly, had a smooshed front end like a pug and man is it ugly. Why rake the belt line like that, it's not a Citreon or Pugeot. I liked the lines of the first fit, and there are some pretty nice turbo kits for it, but it looks like they went from looking like and xA to looking like an Echo. If Scion revives the 1.5L on another vehicle, hopefully they won't make it look like an anvil was dropped on the hood.

I'd like to see another 1.5-1.6L hatchback in the Scion lineup, but there wont be one for a few years. And if they do build such a dream car (as thats what I'm calling it for now), I'd like to see what other new ideas they could come up with then. Finally, a new name for a new car is kind of refreshing in this market full of "all new" vehicles that are not really "all new".

 

Factory turbo and AWD would be nice, but they don't seem to ever do those for the "budget" market. I also don't know why to get a good brake / suspension / powerplant package you also have to buy heated leather seats, a moon roof and navigation. Just give me the fun stuff and keep all the fluff. At least Scion gave a hard top tC.

 

I originally wanted the 3 door yaris, but two kids and two doors don't work so well. The thing about the yaris is that the seats are no where near the Xa.

As for bringing it back, I'll stop by my dealer and see if my friend knows anything new. I wouldn't mind a four door Xa with a hybrid or one cylinder diesel hybrid. That would be cool.

 

a few ppl on here have accurate info. The xD IS the xA, in Japan they are both the same model. Look at an '06 xA, then look up "2008 Toyota iSt" images....the grille is as close to identical as you can get, with such different cars.

the new 2008 ist is the same car as the xD here... but that's really it...

platforms for the original ist/xA differ from the current ones... so i'm not sure where you are going with the '08 ist and the older xA/ist

but the xD isn't the xA...

I think this is all wishful thinking. xA is over for Toyota corp. It's pretty clear that they have moved on. the new remodeled JDM "ist" or USDM "xD" is here. Just my 2 cents.

PS: you can however look forward to a redesigned Tc next year prob.
