it's not supposed to inspire you the same way as an M3 or STI. This is a completely different vehicle. These cars (Scions) are made to get great MPG and have enough pep to not get run over merging onto the fwy.

I think the Matrix has pretty much been the xA replacement from Toyota at this point. They're almost advertising it as such if you go look at the 2009 website for it. They even offer it in AWD.

But for the price, you would be nuts not to just buy a Mazdaspeed3. They need to get the price down 7 grand.

It would be nice to have the Yaris 5 door turbo over in the USA, though. I'd like to stay driving a micro hatch.

I'd be real happy with a 2-door Yaris TS.

But no... thanks, Toyota.

from what I've heard...The new Matrix *is* awesome...but not worth the $$$, it's not quite up with the Impreza 2.5RS, or the MazdaSpeed3. Toyota opted for comfort over cornering. From what I heard.

that doesn't surprise me cause when the reviews come out it will be all the car performs well but the suspension is too soft or too stiff for some. never a happy medium with the review guys.

Dope.
I'll keep that in mind if I ever want to import a 4dr Yaris here, however considering we have stringent CA. emissions .... doubtful if getting one from CDN would have all the emission equipment on it.

even though the xD replaced the xA I did however hear that Scion Corp. were discussing whether to bring back the xA. I believe they still have plans for that model..well depending on the sales of xDs
