I've got an xB and I think it is the same setup as a xA. Does anybody know if the stock brake pads are semi-metallic or ceramic? I got the auto parts store telling me they are ceramic. I called the dealership and they are telling me that they think they are semi-metallic. I wonder if the parts store is trying to make an extra buck....hmmm.

I replaced mine with ceramic...I think most stock brakes are ceramic. A month or so on ceramic, no problems...

the tC pads are ceramics, I think, but, judging the difference in brake dust and amount, I don't think xAor xB factory pads are anything better than semi metalic. We don't get a cabin air filter, why would they go the extra $$$ for good pads?

judging by the way i went down on the pads at about 17500 miles i would say that they are semimetallic but i love ceramic pads because less brake dust and less noise 'TRUST ME" ceramic is BETTER i have used ceramic all of my driving carreer ive been through three cars go to PEPBOYS they will show you all there pads

I'm about to do my first brake job at 75,000 miles. I'm trying to decide if I should get ceramics of go OEM. Everyone keeps telling me that the ceramics squeal and they eat up your rotors.

The way it seems nowdays, rotors aren't really meant to be resurfaced, so I just figure new rotors in with a brake job. If you are doing it yourself, it is nearly the same price. Figure good rotors about $75 and ceranic pads about $50 for $125 when brake jobs without turning the rotors go for $100 around here.

But yes, ceramics are a little harder on rotors than organics. But mine have never squealed. Not even cold.

My car's brakes seems to start acting funny. They turn on the brake alarm indicator each time I accelerate the vehicle. So that, how to find a place that replace them. I would change them myself, but it seems to me in the U.S. people are not supposed to fix their cars on the public streets. Thanks.

Y'all are going to LOVE this: I have an 06 xA with 81000 miles and JUST changed out the brake pads! (Ok, well, my son did it) I searched the how-to info on this forum, thanks, guys, it helped!! Here's my question-- the driver's side pads were worn, the inside down to the metal, the outside pad about 3/4 of the way... on the passenger side, though, the pads were barely worn _at all_! What's up with the uneven wear!?
